Hello,

I have an issue where the primary and secondary monitors appear to switch rapidly and continuously. This occurs after connecting my laptop to an external dock connected via DVI-D to a Dell U2713HM monitor.

The dock is a HP USB 3.0 universal. The laptop is a HP ENVY TS m7. The latest drivers are installed and Windows Update is current.

I've placed a short snippet of the issue here (https://goo.gl/photos/zH1fFpsvzkqm3aQU8). Notice the desktop background image keeps switching between the monitors.

Any ideas as to what may be causing this? I did reseat the connections.

I'm continuing to experience the issue after:

Reinstalling the DisplayLink software after uninstalling the core software and running the cleaner utility.
Updated to the latest Win 10 Intel Graphics driver for my device.
Updated to the latest Win 10 Nvidia drivers for my device.
Installed drivers for Dell monitor; although, I don't believe it's required for Windows 10.
Ran the DisplayLink Support tool and confirmed compatibility.

The support tool output is attached for review.

I just made a post on Plugable.com with a possible workaround -> http://plugable.com/2016/01/19/flashing-screens-when-using-displaylink-7-9-m4-driver

If you follow those steps does that help?

I just made a post about a workaround that may apply in your case here -> http://plugable.com/2016/01/19/flashing-screens-when-using-displaylink-7-9-m4-driver

Does that help with your symptoms?

does it make a difference if you bypass the docking station?
it did not on mine.

Connecting the laptop to the monitor directly works fine. It's only when using DisplayLink through the docking station that gives me grief.

Bump. Has anyone experienced a similar issue?

I have the same problem after upgrading to Windows 10 64 bit.
Before, all works fine with Windows 7 64 bit. Same pc, same monitor and same docking (hp usb 2.0).
I remove completely software, reboot, install new updated software.
What else can i do?

Orlanzo, mtombolini,
have you tried Bob's recommendation?
It solved it for everyone else.

Alban - Can you provide the URL? I'll definitely try it out, but can find it either.

If you're using an HP laptop, try disabling/restarting the HP Support Solutions Framework Service. It seems to have worked for me.

It seems my original post (I'm Bob) may have been lost in the ether or perhaps wasn't approved by the moderators. Here is the link with the post I wrote about the behavior and the workaround -> http://plugable.com/2016/01/19/flashing-screens-when-using-displaylink-7-9-m4-driver

Can you see Bob's posts now?
I think the short post + URL might have triggered a moderation hold.

Solved with Bob's post workaround.
Thank you.

I see the registry hack posted in http://plugable.com/2016/01/19/flashing-screens-when-using-displaylink-7-9-m4-driver . I have not tried this yet. I would rather wait for updated driver. I reverted back to 7.9 M2 version.

I am particularly interested in M3 because this COO's computer has experienced the "Microsoft Office protected view is crashing when using hardware graphics acceleration" issue which should be fixed in M3.

I have a Toshiba Portege z20t upgraded to Windows 10 and connected to Toshiba Dynadock 4k. I also had the two screen flickering/switching problem that made them unusable and this seems to have stopped the z20t from recognising its keyboard dock. However, applying Bob's fix at http://plugable.com/2016/01/19/flashing-screens-when-using-displaylink-7-9-m4-driver has enabled me to get Dynadock 4k unit working again via micro-USB socket on z20t tablet.

I still do not know how to get tablet to recognise its keyboard dock again
