Displaylink Adapter Keeps Disconnecting

I have a Thinkpad docking station with Displaylink and it keeps connecting/disconnecting. I used the same docking station with a previous Lenovo laptop without problems. I upgraded to a T450 laptop and ever since I have had problems with the docking station repeatedly disconnecting then reconnecting.

It happens regardless of which USB port I use. I don't think it is the cable because everything worked fine until installing it with the T450.
