No HDMI audio

I am using a DisplayLink usb Multi-Display adapter with a Mac running Sierra 10.12.3. The DVI output is working fine but while the HDMi output does give me perfect video but no audio. The selection "USB audio" does appear in System preferences and I select it but I am getting no audio through HDMI. Is audio supported with the HDMI output. If it is, what am I doing wrong?

Hi,

Even though 5.1 audio is not officially supported, HDMI audio should be working with the latest driver and 10.12.3. Which product are you using and which monitor?
