View Full Version : My DL Usb 2.0 to DVI not working anymore under Win10

Hi,
I have been going crazy trying to work out how to fix my DL USB 2.0 to DVI connected to my monitor. It worked in windows 7 but I am not able to get it to work in Win10 since I upgraded.
I've downloaded the latest driver 8.1.843.0
Can you please help?

Yes I saw that link, but neither driver version 8.2 nor the windows creators update seem to be available yet. Is that correct?

I checked last night, and the fix is the latest Windows Insiders Fast Ring build (build 15042).
If you install that and our beta (http://www.displaylink.org/forum/showthread.php?t=65140), it will be fine.
But both the OS and DisplayLink drivers are at beta level today.
Also, these do not address the root cause as MS or DL can't solve in software what is coming from a hardware problem. So it may not 100% work. We believe it's close to 100% as we can retry now whereas before we could not.

Right I installed the beta driver 8.2. The latest windows build (fully updated) that I use is 14393. I suppose I will have to wait for the next update if I don't really want to mess around with Windows betas. Installing the DL beta alone didn't make a difference. It still doesn't find the 2nd display.
Can I make DL work if I use it with a powered usb hub?

You can try, but usually no.
If it's the same we've seen, the issue is around the power supply spiking.
The chip has no problem.

I'm just downloading the anniversary update. Do you think it will work with that one?

I'm afraid not.
Anniversary Update is from last July and does not include the fix in the USB driver that allows us to keep trying.
You do need Windows 10 Build 15049 or higher.
You can get it from the Windows 10 Insider Programme, or wait until next week as Windows 10 Creators Update should be available to you from Microsoft officially by using their "Windows update assistant" utility. Thankfully it's not long now.

Ok I finally installed the latest 8.2 M2 driver ( can't see a beta anymore) and have the creators update running on my windows 10. However it is still not working :mad:
Any ideas?
Edit I also tried the 8.2 beta driver. My display simply stays black and does not get detected in the display settings of windows 10 :(

It looks like you have the same issue as before. The logs are running 8.2 Beta 1.
Would you mind using the official 8.2 M2, please, for the logs?
There has been further changes in 8.2 M2 since 8.2 Beta 1 to handle further error cases.
Hopefully, the problem with your device is not so bad that it can't be recovered by software. However, the timing changes may be enough to change the marginal behaviour to the wrong side of the margin.
