Monitor goes blank and cannot be detected without unplugging USB adapter

Several times during the day the monitor goes blank and is undetected by the xfce4 display tool, xfce4-display-settings . Most of the time unplugging the USB connector and reconnecting causes the monitor to appear. How do I keep this from happening?

Could you attach logs from our support tools so we could check if we can see what's causing it go blank?
