High CPU Utilization on Windows Devices Post Display Link Driver Installation

Hello All,

We have recently deployed Display Link Driver to our environment on windows 7 (x86,x64) devices. Post installation we have started receiving the complaints of High CPU Utilization on the devices, and intermittent issue with the Wi-Fi connection.
Once the Display Link Driver is removed from the devices, everything works as normal.

Version which we have deployed is - 8.2.1646.

We have tried by upgrading the latest version of the driver, still issues exists. Please let us know if someone can help on this and we if have any fix for this.

Hi

CPU will be used when something changes on the screen. If you have high CPU being used by DisplayLink, then there must be something open that keeps causing screen updates. The CPU should be around zero if you're just showing the Windows desktop.

The intermittent wireless issue is a different problem and probably caused by USB 3.0 interference as covered in this article (http://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/544249-wireless-devices-mouse-keyboard-or-wifi-stop-wo).

High CPU with lots of screen changes. One example is video where a modern, fast i7U can't keep up with the CPU load the driver is generating in the system.
If this is "working as intended", then DisplayLink is unsuitable for video playback.
