Hi,

I have fresh installed Ubuntu 17.10 on ThinkPad T470S, and I've already tried both workarounds suggested here http://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1181623. I've also tried other suggestions that I've found on this forum but nothing worked, and I still can't get my second monitor to work.

DisplayLink is recognized on the USB bus

Bus 002 Device 006: ID 17e9:4306 DisplayLink

I hope you can help resolve this issue.

Thanks,
Zoran

Are you running with secure boot on? In this case you'd have to sign the evdi kernel module yourself, or disable secure boot.

Cheers,
Michal

Hi Michal,

Thank you for your quick response. SecureBoot was turned on, but even after I turned it off, it doesn't work. At one point after computer restart, I got Ubuntu crashed due to the problem with DisplayLink. Please check attached screenshots.

I also can login only on "Ubuntu Xorg" but not on "Ubuntu". I've tried uninstalling and installing again.

Thanks,
Zoran

I've solved the issue by installing LinuxMint 18.3 instead of Ubuntu. It started to work immediately, and I have a picture on both my external monitors. The only issue I have now is a laggy mouse

You do know that Linux Mint is based on Ubuntu? That version you installed is based on the last LTS release, 16.04. That and 16.04 still uses Xorg/X11 while 17.10 uses Wayland by default. Disabling wayland on login seems to help as well: https://askubuntu.com/questions/975094/how-to-disable-wayland-in-17-10-in-gdm3-login-screen/975188

Yes. I know LinuxMint is based on Ubuntu, and in my second response I wrote that I can't login to Wayland but only to Xorg, so it didn't work with Xorg. I've already investigated all tricks suggested on this forum and nothing helped.
Finally, after I installed Ubuntu 17.10 back again (though previous one was also fresh install) it started working without any workaround. I don't know why, but it looks like something was off, and having Ubuntu reinstalled have solved that.

The big issue is the displaylink docks don't work with wayland (and I don't know when they will support wayland).
