Hi,
after a fresh installation of Mint 18.3 on an external SSD I installed the displaylink driver 4.2. It does not work with an external screen. There is an erratic behaviour even after creating the two versions of the 20-displaylink.conf file. Attached is the 'displaylink' diagnostic file of my system.
Any help would be appreciated.

But what are the symptoms exactly?
Thanks,
Michal

I have this same issue. The network works, but not my extra screens. They keep on being blank after installation of the driver.
I run linux mint 18.3 with displaylink driver 4.2.29

I also have the same issue.
Kernel 4.13.0-43-generic
Linux Mint 18.3 Sylvia
Displaylink driver 4.2.29
3005pr port replicator
When I attach a monitor to the DisplayPort or HDMI connector on 3005pr the other active screens plugged to the laptop are flashing for a second but nothing gets detected on the Display settings page and the newly attached screen says "no signal".
# lsusb -d 17e9:
Bus 002 Device 003: ID 17e9:430a DisplayLink HP Port Replicator (Composite Device)
The driver seems correctly installed and deamon running:
# ps auxwww | grep display
root 3230 0.2 0.1 2328928 17540 ? Ssl 09:41 0:07 /opt/displaylink/DisplayLinkManager
When I attach the new monitor the syslog says:

Any ideas?
Thank you.
