Hi,

We're using a number of the Lenovo USB 3.0 Pro dock with driver
version 8.4.3345. All works just fine - However on the 11th of September
the driver all of a sudden got updated to version 8.5.3490. Users, in most cases, cannot
upgrade drivers/install software on their PC's.

So my question is if the Displaylink software contains functionality to automatically
upgrade the driver or if I should look elsewhere for why this has happened.

Best regards
SNI

Hello SNI,

No, they have no logic to update themselves. They don't call home either. They just control the hardware.
I'd recommend you look at Windows Update.

The Lenovo Pro Dock has driver 8.5.3490 (8.5 M1) on Windows Update:
https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=vid_17e9%26pid_433f
The driver became available as a normal update, but NOT critical, following Lenovo's request on 6th July.

Which version of Windows is this?

Kind regards,
Alban

Hi Alban,

Thanks for getting back to me :). The OS is Win 7 Enterprise 64 bit.
We'll get digging into if this could be Windows Update.

Kind regards
SNI

You're welcome SNI,

If you run the utility linked in the 3rd link in my forum signature, it will gather Windows installer logs.

SETUPAPI.*.LOG include that information.

For instance the following show the install was triggered by me plugging the device:
>>> [Setup online Device Install (Hardware initiated) - SCFILTER\CID_5975dsfsdf65794e454f7233\a&Yubico_Yubikey_NEO_OTP+U2F+CCID_0_SCFILTER_CID_597 5sdgfgadfg7233]

And on Windows 7, a WU install would require manual user intervention with admin privilege (UAC prompt).

Kind regards,
Alban
