I am using the D3100 with a Dell Precision 5510 laptop. The reason for purchasing the dock is to utilize the Ethernet port which is connected to a NetGear GS105, (capable of 10/100/1000 speeds & 9K Jumbo packet size). All ports are confirmed to be working on the NetGear but the docking station and the Netgear port it is plugged into do not light up and I do not see Network adapter in Window 10 Pro version 1809.

I ran the support tool and there are no compatibility issues according to it.

Am I missing something obvious?

Thanks in advance.

Hello Richard,

Thank you for the details, they're helpful.
Could you check in Device Manager if you see the Dell Gigabit adapter installed and "working" in the network adapters?
If so, but you don't see a Network Adapter in Windows, then you most likely have an anti-virus blocking the addition of that new adapter for your alleged safety...

That product does not support Jumbo frames. You also need to have full duplex available.
If you use auto-negotiation on network devices, both sides must be configured as auto-neg.

Kind regards,
Alban
