Hi,
checked the entries so far on the forum but could not find an appropriate answer.
Problem:
After working fine the past months, my two external displays are staying black since the performed system update to Catalina 10.15 despite using the latest driver.
Config;
MBP 13 / 2019 - 2,8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
Graphic card Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655 1536 MB
OS Catalina 10.15
DisplayLink driver 5.2.1. beta 3
Dell D6000 hub
2xSamsung Monitors - one via DisplayPort / one HDMI
What has been checked?
I already checked the privacy settings to make sure DiplayLink agent is activated.
I removed all cabling and connected again.
I restarted few time the computer
Still 2 black screens...
Any idea what to do next?
Thx

I was having exact same issue and was trying to fix from yesterday. I tried every possible solution available, and at the end downgrading the driver to 5.1.1 worked.
Hope this helps

Please upgrade your macOS to very recent Catalina 10.15.1
Together with DisplayLink driver 5.2.1 beta 3 all major issues should gone.

Hi Steph,
Where did you find v5.1.1 f driver? Silly me, I deleted all prior versions when the upgrades came out and the only 5.x I can find are 5.2.
Appreciate your help!

I've upgraded to macOS 10.15.1 and am using the DisplayLink USB Graphics Software for macOS 5.2.1 Beta 3 drivers and things stopped working. The beta 3 drivers work mostly fine on 10.15, but the update to 10.15.1 broke things.
The screen on my MacBook Pro (2018) blinks off and on when I plug my Dell D6000 dock in and the monitors connected to the dock don't display anything. I followed the instructions to clear the kextcache but that didn't change anything.
Any help would be appreciated.

I tried the power and docking station as suggested. No luck. I've gone through every troubleshooting option from the boards and nothing works. 10.15.1 does not work with the beta drivers at all.

1) installed the latest (beta 3)
2) detached all peripherals from my mac
3) restarted in safe mode => did not work when I connected the dock
4) detached all peripherals from my mac
5) How to reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295)
6) Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204063)

Computer: MacBook Pro with MacOS Catalina 10.15.1
External Device: ASUS Portable Display MB169B+
The MB169B+ was working fine with the MacBook before the MacOS update to 10.15.1. A new DisplayLink driver is needed for the recent MacOS update of 10.15.1. The display will power on and show the ASUS brand and then immediately power back off.
The MB169B+ still works with no problems at all on my Samsung Chromebook XE525QBB.

Please Uninstall DisplayLink driver 5.2.1 beta 3 and then follow that article:

Exact same for my case with iMac.
After upgrading to 10.15.1 (Cataline) from 10.14
(1) with the driver 5.2.1 bata3, "system preference" -> "display" -> "Arrangement" does not show the outer display
although "about this MAC" -> "System Report" -> "Hardware" -> "USB" shows the adapter.
(2) wirh the driver 5.1.1, "Arrangement" shows the display (Fine!), but the outer display says "NO SIGNAL"
Beta "3" is still NOT working.

I'm having the same issue as Seth. After Catalina upgrade, my second and third displays are black. They are active however and I can activate an application blindly.
I have two Plugable docking stations, a three monitor w/2 4k connects and an older version w/ 2 HDMI connects.
I've tried downloading both display driver beta 2 & 3 to no avail. The drivers are loading and my Screen Recording Displaylink User Agent is checked.
Plugable gave up and referred me to DisplayLink.
Help!

darthjr,
We have identified that part of Dell D6000 docks produced between mid 2018-mid 2019 contains USB Hub firmware issue that was uncovered by macOS Catalina 10.15.1 release.
There is a for that.
Please update your dock hub using "Dell Firmware Update Utility":

I am facing the same issue. I upgraded to 10.15.1 from Mojave and then later tried installing beta3 version. I have connected 2 external monitors via D6000 docking station. When i connect my mac to the docking station the screen keeps flickering.
I tried with 5.1.1 version of the driver without any luck.
Can someone please recommend me what can be done to fix this issue?

Read through this thread. Here's what I did to get mine working:
macOS Catalina 10.15.1
I had installed the latest version 5.2.1, but when I plugged in the dock, my MBP screen kept flickering on and off. did all the suggested steps including
https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1188004-macos-10-13-10-14-and-10-15-video-functionality
so I uninstalled this version and installed 5.1.1 (older downloads section), still din't work. so then I disconnected the dell dock and connected it to a Dell Laptop and upgraded the firmware using the dell dock firmware utility updated to the latest it found (0017)
Still running 5.1.1 and now the two external monitors I have are working.

Please use Dell D6000 firmware upgrade utility:

Please try newer dell dock firmware utility that installs 0019 latest drivers:
https://www.dell.com/support/home/uk/en/ukbsdt1/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=t8y8t&oscode=wt64a&productcode=dell-universal-dock-d6000
And that one should work fine with Catalina 10.15.1 and 5.2.1 beta3 Displaylink driver.

And that one should work fine with Catalina 10.15.1 and 5.2.1 beta3 Displaylink driver.
Catalina 10.15.1, Displaylink 5.2.1 beta3 driver, and Dell D6000 dock firmware utility that installs 0019, was the magic combination. I'm fully functional.
Now, if we can get a macOS firmware updater for the D6000 dock... (Its Windows-only.)
Great Find!
