2019 Macbook Pro 13'' - 2 external monitors work intermittently

Hi Hoping someone can help me here.
I have two external monitors connected through Displaylink 4k dock.
The monitors are both connected via HDMI cables
The dock is connected via USB-C
I have most recent Catalina update running and the most recent displaylink drivers installed

When I sit down to connect the dock the monitors will often stay dark. my mac will exit power saving mode, i.e. i recognizes it's connected to power through the dock but the monitors will remain asleep. I routinely have to disconnect and re-connect the USB-C cable from my mac 2-3 additional times to get the monitors to wake up.

Any thoughts here? Is this a known issue? Is there an issue with my hardware?

Additionally, you may try using our new app beta version for MacOS that can be downloaded from here: https://www.displaylink.com/downloads/file?id=1498

Lastly, may you please confirm if you are closing the laptop or keeping it open during the plug?
