Hi all,

I've recently purchased the Plugable UD-ULTCDL docking station and found that I am consistently seeing stuttering/lagging/freezing lasting approximately 1 second and then performance returns to normal.

This consistently occurs when writing e-mails, documents or opening/closing windows. I am using the docking station to display on 2x 1080p monitors, although I've noticed no difference if I were to use just one monitor.

I have also tried using a different docking station, the dell D3100 and I get exactly the same problem! I'm convinced there is an issue with Windows & the latest version of the driver I'm using which is 9.3 M1 (the latest, please correct me if I'm wrong).

Has anyone experienced poor performance like this when using any docking station that uses DisplayLink?

Has anyone managed to resolve this problem?

I hope someone can help.

Cheers,
Joe

I have purchased Dell docking station.

I installed latest drivers from: https://www.displaylink.com/downloads/windows
DisplayLink USB Graphics Software for Windows
Windows 10, 8.1, 7
Release: 9.3 M1 11 Feb 2020

I have 1 external monitor attached to DisplayLink.

The problem is that every few minutes system is freezing for 20-30 seconds and I can’t work.

If I disconnect DisplayLink from PC, everything works great.

Please help.

Yes, I do. Just found out today that I am not alone with this behavior. I am using a D3100 on a Dell Notebook.

Hello,

Thank you all for reaching out to us!

Please install our latest driver: https://www.displaylink.com/downloads/file?id=1566

Afterwards disable USB LPM by following the steps from the link below:
https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/108194-add-usb-3-link-power-management-power-options-windows.html

When the option is visible, please set it to off.
Do not remove it however, the option has to be visible and only set to disable.

Let me know if the issue persists or if it started to work.

Thank you,
Katarzyna

Hello,

Every USB 3 compliant device has U1 and U2 transitions implemented. If they are disabled some functionalities in the device will not transition to idle state. This recommendation is made when we suspect issues that were discovered recently and we are working on fixing.

Best regards,
Katarzyna
