Help with ASUS 169B+ Monitor

I own Microsoft Surface Pro 3 and have been having difficulty getting it to work with an ASUS 169B+, USB 3.0. When I connect it to the PC, the USB initiation sound keeps on repeating over and over and the screen on MB169B+ remains black. Tried removing and installing the Display Link drivers but was not successful.

The monitor was tested to be working on another Lenovo laptop. Any suggestions appreciated. Thank You.

This could be power related; trying connecting the monitor to a mains powered USB hub and connecting the hub to the Surface.
