yet another issue with DisplayLink after a ubuntu update...

Today my system fails to start Ubuntu Desktop on boot => stuck in blinking cursor!

The evdi driver looks to be the culprit. I then tried reinstalling manually using the latest evdi 1.14.4 but same behavior.

Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS
Release: 22.04
Codename: jammy

Linux siana76 6.8.0-76060800daily20240311-generic #202403110203~1710198088~22.04~1a3dbc7~dev-Ubuntu SMP PREEMPT_DY x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Were you able to resolve it? I have the same issue.

I'm facing the same problem here. Any fix?

I stumbled upon the same problem. I still haven't managed to get my displays working. But to get out of the blinking cursor you can go in to lightdm (https://askubuntu.com/questions/297080/ubuntu-boots-to-a-black-screen-with-blinking-a-underscore-character-after-releas) and do sudo apt remove displaylink-driver.

I'm using LM 23.1 (Ubuntu 22.04). I've been on kernel 6.5.0-45 with Displaylink driver 5.8 for a long time with a Wavlink docking station https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09FT8BXZR

Here is what I did before upgrading kernel to 6.8.0-40:
1. Uninstall the 5.8 driver: sudo ./displaylink-driver-6.0.0-24.run uninstall
2. Reboot
3. Install the 6.0 driver: sudo ./displaylink-driver-6.0.0-24.run
4. Reboot
5. Upgrade kernel to 6.8.0-40
6. Profit!
