MacBook Air M2 2023 / Display Link Manager

Hey folks,

Bit of a noob here looking for some advice.

I have a MacBook Air M2 2023 and I’m fully aware that I can only support one additional display however using this software along with a piece of hardware there is a Work around

This is the current stage that I am at:

I have my MacBook screen (obviously) and then my two other screens which both display a small computer icon and the para that says choose or extend to mirror from < Display Link Manager>.

I can get it to recognise one of the additional displays, and the other for that fact, but they just mimic each other, they do not extend as I wish them to.

Can somebody please help me? I’ve burnt out websites looking at them trying to find a solution and didn’t think to use the forum here.

For your reference, DisplayLink technology is a combination of hardware and software. If the product you are using does not have DisplayLink hardware inside of it, then the DisplayLink software will not work.

According to the information provided in the Amazon listing for the product you are using, the product does NOT have DisplayLink hardware inside of it. As a result, the DisplayLink software will not work.

The information in the product listing suggests that the product you are using has a DisplayPort Multi-Stream Transport (DP MST) hub inside of it. Mac computers do NOT support DP MST hubs, which is why your displays are mirrored. The third gallery image in the product listing shows the same behavior when using a Mac.

If you want to add more than one external display to your Mac, then you will need to use an alternative product based on DisplayLink technology. DisplayLink has a list of products available here --> https://www.synaptics.com/products/displaylink-graphics/displaylink-products

If you were to use a different product that had DisplayLink hardware inside of it, then yes, it should work in conjunction with the DisplayLink software.

Hi Guys, apologies for jump in but I have exactly the same problem with the same laptop, however my dock station it is supposed to be Display Link compatible. I check in the linked provided and I did not found my hardware so there is other way to check ?? here is the link of hardware Im using.

I tried all the possible cable combination however nothing work, but if I plug directly into the laptop I can get one of two the extended screens to work...... please I will appreciate any help.

Hi RudyS

Your product indeed is DisplayLink compatible, in fact it uses a combination of technologies:

Display 1 (HDMI) - so called "Alt mode" - it only works if the dock is connected via USB-C
Display 2 (DP) - DisplayLink output
Display 3 (DP/HDMI) - DisplayLink output

Therefore, in the current version of DisplayLink Manager, only displays connected to Display 2 & 3 will appear in the app. Please make sure to install the latest version of the app:

I know this is super cheeky. But if you have a spare 10 mins can you look at the UK amazon site and let me know of any that will work. I am absolutelly useless at stuff like this. Something the would be DisplayLinnk ready and don't have to go getting drivers etc.

The trouble is that a lot off these products are sold I the US and im in the UK and it prevents purchase.
