I have the same issue!

Running Tahoe (currently 26.3) and v15 doesn't work properly at all.

I get serious lag to the point that it is unusable and very unstable. And when Teams is running it takes it to a new level of unusable!

I don't have the same problem with v14.2, everything works as expect.

Any new fixes on the way? Has anyone tried v15.1 to see if its any better than v15?

Hi guy.brown,

Are you able to verify in the Activity Monitor if there is any process consuming unexpectedly lot of CPU/RAM/GPU?

PS. I moved your post to a dedicated thread.

I will re-install v15.1(I reverted back to 14.2) and take a look.

Here are a few screenshots showing the processes using the highest CPU. All other processes were below 5%.

At the time, overall CPU utilisation was around 30%, and everything on the built-in display felt responsive and snappy. Memory usage was also within normal limits, with no pressure or indication of a leak.

However, the DisplayLink-connected monitors were extremely laggy and effectively unusable.

When I initially installed 15.1, everything worked normally for approximately 30+ minutes. The lag then started without any change in workload or applications in use. What’s particularly strange is that after rebooting, the laggy behaviour was present immediately.

My first thought was a potential memory leak, but a reboot should at least temporarily resolve that, which doesn’t appear to be the case.

I reverted back to 14.2 and observed similar CPU and memory metrics in Activity Monitor, but without any DisplayLink lag.

At a stretch I guess it may be related to Microsoft Teams — are there any known compatibility or performance issues between Teams and macOS 15.1?

Thanks for experiments and testing results. Between 14.x and 15.x we made a lot of performance improvements which were confirmed by internal testing and by multiple customers and users. Though, it's not ruled out there is a case like yours for which these changes regressed performance.

MS Teams should not be the case - there is nothing extraordinary happening unless an active MS Teams screen sharing session is taking place.

Would share your spec? (Mac, DisplayLink product, monitors) and what sort of apps are in use?
Do you use BetterDisplay?

I am running:

MacBook Air - 13" 2024 - M3 CPU / 16 GB RAM / 256GB SSD
Anker Prime Docking Station DL7400 (Link (https://www.anker.com/uk/products/a83b3-anker-prime-docking-station-14-in-1-triple-display-140w?ref=search_result_dl7400&_gl=1*rxyorf*_up*MQ..*_ga*MzMxMTQ5Mjg2LjE3NzI1NDYy MTM.*_ga_CP1CDW0CVX*czE3NzI1NDYyMTMkbzEkZzAkdDE3Nz I1NDYyMTMkajYwJGwwJGgwJGRqR25pQldMTXk0ZGpfbGVraEM1 Qzl5WFdXVjdnTlBDNVFn*_ga_6CDN1T0WGG*czE3NzI1NDYyMT MkbzEkZzAkdDE3NzI1NDYyMTMkajYwJGwwJGgwJGR1Uk5rWHRU TzRaNlRsU2d1OFJnSWI4bVRUM3hTNndNZGNB))
2 x UPERFECT 16" 4K Portable Monitor (Link (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0FCG1P6XH)) - both plugged in via HDMI and set to 1920x1200 / 60Hz in the OS

In terms of app I run daily:

MS Teams, VS Code, Logi Options+, Safari, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Outlook, Slack, etc.

I am pretty good at closing apps when I am not using them so don't have heavy workloads constantly running.

The reason I mentioned Teams is because I noticed it started to happen whist I was on a video call (not sharing, just video on the main screen)

This would confirm the problem is not related to low processing resource when the issue occurs. Would you be able to:

Capture a video when the issue is active - preferably high fps, e.g. "slow motion" if recording with iPhone. I guess the video file will be to large for an email, so some file sharing service will be required.
