Is there a later BIOS version you can try?

Hi James
No there is no firmware update. Not for the netbook and the docking station cannot be updated by users to my knowledge.

Sorry, I'm waiting for the user to be in the office, but it seems to recognize a USB device... when you attach the dock it at least makes the sound but then might make the 'ejected' sound as well right after. I'll try unplugging and going through your steps when the user is back in the office.

I've been through the logs but there is no sign of the dock appearing.

Here's my suggestions:
1. In the latest set of logs there is no sign of an attached monitor. Can you try a different video cable?
2. Try a different USB port on your notebook
3. Try disconnecting your dock, power cycling it and reconnecting it

If you get nowhere with that please try the following:
1. Uninstall DisplayLink software
2. Run the cleaner tool from here:
http://www.displaylink.com/support/ticket.php?id=297
3. In your BIOS try disabling the Nvidia GPU (if there is no option for that then disable the Nvidia GPU from within Device Manager)
4. Install v7.6M2

Thanks,
James

This seems to have fixed it, I disabled the Nvidia display adapter in Device Manager. Do you need logs to fix? or is this a permanent solution? :)

Hi,
I've done step 1 through 5 a few times with slight variations exception that I did not install any BETA driver. I am more intersted in getting to the bottom of this since it suddendly changed. Even if the trial and error fixes this, it might come back and we start from scratch.

In the meantime I have returned the dock for repair to ASUS. However, given the uncertainty about the actual cause, it might come back without any findings, although given the fact that had tested the box on several maschines returning the same issue where the box was running before without a problem, it might very well be a HW issue.

Had you tried these 4 steps below? they seemed to work for me:

Seems like it could be an issue with devices with dual GPU? or maybe an Nvidia issue

Hi all,

If you're having identical issues (Unknown USB device), please see this page for suggested fixes

Thanks,
James

Thanks James
Tried that already.. no success.. still waiting for my dock to be replaced by the distributor. I would certainly hope that something will be done to avoid users having to frequently remove / re-install devices and drivers or disable display adapters. These are are workarounds at best but the underlying cause should be fixed.

There seems to be plenty of costumers facing the same issues; is DisplayLink aware of these issues? Are there other forms of support? Such as escalation to higher level of support?
