So the issue with apps appearing with a blue/black screen should be fixed in v7.1 M1, now available from our website.

If the problem does persist after installing this release, please reinstall the primary graphics drivers and this should fix it for good.

The problem with apps that show protected content is not fixed in this release (eg Netflix/Hulu etc). That's still being worked on.

I am an idiot.

I finally realized what my issue is. I don't need the Displaylink graphics and core software.

I am not using multiple monitors.

I am running Windows 8 Pro on a nice desktop with a Dell S2340T touch monitor.

The touch functionality works without the Displaylink software. That is what I didn't know until now.

The Displaylink auto installs when you attach the monitor.

The past two months I've been dealing with driver updates from Displaylink and Intel when all I had to uninstall the Displaylink software.

Once I did that, then disabled all Displaylink services and processes, my Win 8 machine is running great.

Netflix, Hulu Plus, NBC News app, Metro Video and Music app, Camera and Maps app...all running great.

No flashing screens, no blue screen...

Wow. And I was about to buy a new XPS 8500 to try and resolve this.

How much longer will it be before your "Windows 8 compatible" driver is actually Windows 8 compatible?

I've been waiting for this as well. I thought I would try the latest (7.1M1) and it too does not work with Windows Store video applications (Not Hulu or Netflix). Worse, searching the knowledge base does not bring this up as a known issue, so I'm not sure if anyone is even working on it.

I'm really hoping that DisplayLink comes up with a fix for this soon.

I can confirm that the 7.1 update works as long as you reinstall the Lenovo graphics driver as well. No more blue screen on win 8 apps. I'll be looking for the update that fixes the nexflix issue with bated breath.

I've been running the android version of netfix until they get this part fixed using Bluestacks. Created a netfix shortcut to it on my start screen and works fine for now.

I've been running the Android version of netflix using Bluestacks and it works for now while they get this fixed.

Please don't call yourself an idiot! This is a confusing area even for experts.

I'm pretty sure if you run the S2340T in 'Green Mode' (available through the menus) you won't be provoked to load our software, but you will also lose out on wired ethernet functionality - if you have a desktop I'm sure you have good motherboard ethernet, and you won't be worried about this.

Once we'ved worked out which end of the wire has the bug (and fixed it), then you can return to single wire operation, although at that point you may get worried by multiple ethernet connections...

All I can advise for you in your minority situation is drop to a two wire solution, and occasionally retry and see if it's been fixed (or refer to these forums). I think the S2340T really shines in a multi-use scenario. It's still great as a single use touch/camera solution, but if you are permanently wired up, two data wires versus one is not a huge deal.

Just to confer, we've been demonstrating the S2340T to many customers on Intel platforms, and the problems are generally very soluble.
