Windows 8 Preview
Anyone try to get this to work with the windows 8 developer preview?
|
No, using UV+. I also tried the beta software which didn't seem to work.
For the record, I did set compatibility back to Windows 7 and ran as administrator. Any chance a new version is coming out? |
displaylink with win8
I'm also having trouble getting it working.
I can install using compatibility mode and once you change all files required to run also in compatibility mode you can almost get it going. Any advise from displaylink would be great! |
I agree. Also struggling with this. Not sure what 'really close' is or means. I can get the display to blink when I install the drivers, but no picture, and nothing else happens.

I haven't gotten this to work either.
Driver installs then the screen flashes and that's where it stops. Afterwards I see the DisplayLinkManager application eating up 45-50% of my CPU in task manager. |

Lonely Driver incompatability
According to the Driver Details for my Lilliput display (uses DisplayLink), the one incompatible driver file is DisplayLinkUsbPort_5.6.31854.0.sys, located in C:\Windows\System32\Drivers.
This file is Identified in the properties window as being provided by http://libusb-win32.sourceforge.net. File version is 5.0.0.2. Copyright: 2002-2005 Does anyone have a more up-to-date version of this library? If we could upgrade this we might have a chance at this! |
I have a Sabrent USB-1612 that worked out of the box in Win8 until a Windows update killed it. Looks like 6.0.32700.0 dated 6/1/2011 from DisplayLink installed, but I can't get the device to actually turn on.

Windows 8 support is being developed at the moment. We will have a Windows 8 beta driver available by the end of the year.
Thanks Wim |

Dears admins,
I agree with rlestage user. We need a quick update, there should be something. Most users that test Windows 8 Preview, uses this pre-realease as main PC and not as test as should to be, but I'm one of first. That use this pre-release as main, at least not as main but yes as secondary pc on laptops and tablets. We would appreciate if you provide us any beta drivers to test on windows 8 Preview asap. |

I try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt. It is possible that neither of you posters realized how you came across to some, so let me help provide illumination. It seems that you are saying that because you are devs, you expect this in a time frame which in the development world is almost right away, while not allowing any professional courtesy to the devs who are working on making a stable enough beta driver for a pre-beta OS that just came out. I'll just come out and say it, even if it is unintentional, it comes across as trollish. Please future posters, unless they miss their time frame with no accounting for why, let's keep this conversation on topic and try to be respectful of others. |

This is exactly the position at the moment. There are some major graphics changes in Windows 8 that we are having to work with. This is taking time to develop, and we are using the Developer preview to do this as quickly as possible. This is the way support for a new platform is done and the reason for the preview release: for us and others to develop support for Windows 8. Wim |
Well, only 23 days left in the year! Hopefully we'll see something in the beta forums here shortly!
