Asus VivoTab Note 8 - DisplayLink v7.5 M1
Device: Asus VivoTab Note 8
I am running Lenovo USB 3.0 Dock and DisplayLink v7.5 M1. I set the monitor to be primary (Show Desktop only on 2). When ever I get UAC prompt the screen on Desktop 2 (the primary) it resets to Portrait. I had the same occurrence with the Dell Venue 8 Pro. Trying to determine if I have something not setup correctly. Thanks. |
Hi,
Sorry fro the delay in responding - I'll try this out tomorrow. Can you attach the output from this tool: http://www.displaylink.com/support/ticket.php?id=269 Thanks, James |

My main user account does not have admin rights. I have a secondary account that I use to do anything that requires administrator.
I open Computer Management which prompts UAC admin credentials. I enter the admin user/pw and the screen changes from landscape to portrait. I have to manually go in and change back to landscape or another UAC admin prompt and then it changes back to landscape. Very strange. I have updated to 7.5 M2 and acts the same. |
Hi,
From looking around this has been seen elsewhere: http://plugable.com/2014/01/03/need-...gable-products I tried this on a Venue 8 Pro attached to a 1080p monitor but could not reproduce it. I had the tablet set to portrait rotation at the time - is this what your tablet is set to? Thanks, James |

Repro. Connect to USB External Monitor. I am using the Lenovo USB 3.0 Dock. Set show on Display #2 (external monitor). Log into machine as a non-admin Do something to prompt UAC like opening Computer Management I hope you are able to reproduce it now. |
Hi,
Thanks - yes I've just this minute reproduced your issue. I'll get it raised internally for investigation. Thanks, James |

Any updates to this? |
Hi,
Sorry for the delay on this one - I'll chase it up (I've been out of town recently). Thanks, James |
I too am having an identical issue with the Dell Venue 8 Pro. I've tried a few different displaylink adapters, they all do the same thing when going to UAC.
Just observed that this happens as well when opening full screen Metro style apps as well. |
Any updates?

any updates?
James do you have any updates on this issue?
|
Hi,
This appears to be a Windows issue. We've seen the same thing happen with a directly attached display. Thanks, James |
reply
It does not happen with Surface Pro or Samsung Ativ700t. Doesn't sound like a Windows issue.

I am seeing this for Toshiba Encore tablet as well when connecting to Dell S2340T with usb displayport connection.
operating system: Win 8.1 (up to date) DisplayLink Manager 7.6.56275.0 Can we have an update on this issue? Thanks! |
Update?
Any updates? It is very annoying when the device screen rotates when you have it plugged in to the adapter.
You previously mentioned in post #7 that you were able to reproduce this. This is not a windows issue as you mentioned later. I don't have this issue with any of the other tablets that I have tested. Dell Latitude 10 Asus B121 Samsung Ativ 700T Surface Pro 1 Surface Pro 2 |
I've seen the same issue on the new Plugable Pro 8 dock with a similar configuration as cmergel. I am using the external monitor as my only display and I have unchecked "Allow screen to auto-rotate" in the screen resolution properties. Any UAC prompt causes my display to change to Portrait (flipped).
My workaround was to disable the "Switch to Secure Desktop When Prompting for Elevation" policy setting as documented here Once disabled, UAC prompt no longer auto-rotates the display. The screen does not dim when the UAC prompt appears, but it's an acceptable alternative to disabling UAC completely IMO. |
