HZ-1 docking station USB3 Intel chipset series 6
1 Attachment(s)
I have a HZ-1 docking station working with my Asus laptop which suddenly stopped showing the external display, although the USB connections worked fine. After reinstalling the software I got the display back. However I now get the message that the USB3 drivers are not compatible with the DisplayLink.
I see this is a known issue, but your support only references for Intel series 7 & 8 chipset. When I run Intel chipset identification tool it tell me I have series 6. Any thoughts would be appreciated to avoid future issues, though I do now seem to be up and running again. Attached is the log. |
Still struggling
The adaptor has stopped working again (no second screen and no ethernet, USB connections OK).
Error is 'USB device not recognised'. Remove from device manager, reinstall the display adaptor software - but no improvement. Please can somebody help me! |
Hi,
Apologies for the delay in replying. There doesn't appear to be any files in the attachment; can you try the following: Download http://www.displaylink.com/support/ticket.php?id=269 Once downloaded, please run it and select "Gather Support Information" When you reply please select "Manage Attachments" from the "Additional Options" section below. From there select Upload and navigate to the output of the tool which will be in a folder called "DisplayLink Support Files" on your desktop. Thanks, James |

There is an attachment on my first post. Anyway I have rerun the software so please find attached the support file requested., and the one from my first post. The software says that the adaptor is not plugged in and if a unplug the laptop clicks and when I reconnect the USB lead the error message 'USB device not recognised'. I hope that you can help. Just noticed the older zip file has no content so rezipped it Hope this helps Richard |
Am I doing something wrong in this forum as responses seem not to be happening?
I am wondering if the internal power supply could have failed in the adaptor and that is why the device is not being recognised. I can measure voltage going in but surprisingly there is no LED on the adaptor to indicate power on. Begining to think I will return the whole thing as a waste of money. Richard |
Hi,
Can you update your Intel USB 3.0 host controller driver to this one? https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Det...?DwnldID=21129 Let me know how you get on. Thanks, James |

Many thanks for coming back to me. I have made that upgrade and at least I don't get the USB device not recognised. However although the displaylink software shows in the control panel, it is not showing in the notification area. If I plug in an ethernet cable no lights are showing and the second monitor via the DVI outlet does not show. I have re-run your diagnotic software: system compatibility check says the device is not attached. Support information file is attached. |
Hi,
Can you upgrade to the latest DisplayLink software (v7.7 M0)? You can locate it here: http://www.displaylink.com/support/downloads.php Thanks, James |

Hi,
Can you try disabling the Nvidia graphics card through the BIOS or through device manager (see attached image)? If you get no joy with that please attach the latest support files (the ones you uploaded yesterday show that the older DisplayLink software and older USB 3.0 host controller driver are still installed). Thanks, James |

Are you sure your software upgrades are both good as the reboot seems to stall. Hard reset and then it goes the second time. Anyway they are both installed, Nivida display disabled and still nothing.
Could it just be the power supply to the adaptor? Richard PS still struggling with the restarts |

The start up repair seems to have cleared itself of errors (famours last words) and as far as I can see managed to retain your software/driver upgrades - but I am no expert. However when I plug in the DisplayLink adaptor, I still get USB not recognised error. Anyway the very latest support file is attached. Could it be that the power supply part of the adaptor has failed and hence on monitor and ethernet function? Is there anyway to check it? I do get 5V at the power lead because I can measure that, but how can we be sure the power supply inside is functional At what point do we give up and I get a refund for a non-working system? Sorry had to re-enable the video card so that I could connect the second screen via the HDMI port. Have you looked at the data I sent? Can I get this adaptor checked/repaired under waranty as feel there is something wrong internally Richard |
No sign of JamesH for ages. Is it because I mentioned warranty claim?
Does anybody else know how to test is it is the power supply within the display adaptor that is faulty? Richard |
Hi,
Sorry for the delay in replying. Can you try the following? 1. Disconnect your dock from your notebook, disconnect your dock from the mains, uninstall the DisplayLink software, run the cleaner tool from here http://www.displaylink.com/support/ticket.php?id=297, reinstall the DisplayLink software from here http://www.displaylink.com/support/downloads.php, reconenct your dock to the mains and lastly reconnect your dock to your notebook 2. Run through the steps in this FAQ: http://www.displaylink.com/support/ticket.php?id=370 Whilst the FAQ refers to a different issue to that which you are having the steps to check are relevant to your issue. 3. Check out the Microsoft troubleshooter from here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/w...th-usb-devices Let me know you get on. Thanks, James |
