DisplayLink DL-1x0 or auto install devices do not work in Windows 10 Anniversary
I just upgraded to the RC of Windows 10 Anniversary.
Display Link is not working. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times, using the cleaner to do the uninstall. It simply refuses to recognise my second monitor. It doesn't show up in the Device Manager. I have restarted my machine after install, and I have tried disconnecting and reconnecting the power on the display link (that used to work) all to no avail. Please help. |
All I have now is a glorified USB hub.
This really needs to be fixed. The driver you have published is useless, all it is now doing is powering the USB slots. |
My system is working fine with build 14393
|
I've spent so much time on this, and it simply doesn't work.
I noticed that even after running the cleaner, some of the DisplayLink files/drivers where left behind. I deleted these myself, and tried again. Still not working. I have a Dell XPS, a Dell D3000 DisplayLink hub and a Dell Monitor. It really shouldn't be difficult to get these to work together. |
Hello Derek,
We have more than 20,000 user currently using the 8.0 M0 driver on the Windows Insiders program. If nothing is showing in Device Manager, then it is likely that your device is not enumerating. If Windows doesn't see a device, then Windows doesn't even bother looking for a driver... Would you please be able to connect the device, then gather the logs as described in my email signature. This will show me what's in Device Manager, potentially as a failed device. It will also show me what driver is currently installed on your computer. Kind regards, Alban |
Hello,
Have you tried updating your Bios on your laptop at all? Some people say the latest Bios for a Dell XPS sometimes fixes the problem. Give it a shot if it does work let me know. computerg767 |
I am having the same problem. First it was with my HP Laptop (Win 10 Home 32Bit - My Insider Test Machine). It was running the Insider beta and kicked out the previous version of DisplayLink after the 2nd. to last Cumulative Update just prior to the Anniversary Update. I uninstalled the old version of DisplayLink and Updated to 8.0 MO but all I get is a blank Screen with the monitor light on.
Today I updated my DeskTop (Win 10 Pro 64 bit) and same problem kicked out by Windows install, updated driver to 8.0 MO but blank screen. I am currently updating my last Laptop (HP Running Windows 10 Pro 64 bit) I will update this post when its done. Update: 3 for 3 - my last Laptop did the same so 3 different computers all running the Windows 10 Anniversary update all running the latest DisplayLink diver having the same blank monitor issue. Ned |
Its not working right for me either. There is no icon on task bar and the mouse is located on the laptop not main monitor on ever restart (hibernation or reboot). I have reinstalled with no change.
I also have done a clean uninstall using the cleaner program and after the reinstall still no task bar icon so I have no way of access/changing anything. |
Same issue here
Same issue here, since updating Win10 to the anniversary edition my displaylink screens no longer work. The update removed the ver 7 of the driver and then I installed the new ver 8. The screens are appearing in the device manager under displays and show they are using the displaylink driver.
I can unplug their USB cable and they "bing bong" out and in and I see them disappear and reappear in the device manager However they don't appear in the screen settings as available to extend or duplicate and just stay blank. My graphics card is an Nvidia Gforce GTX 670. |
Answer from tech support:
"It looks like your devices are based on the DL-1x0 chipset which was discontinued 8 years ago. There is a problem with these devices and I think we have a fix which would be released in our next maintenance release in a few weeks time." So I guess its either new screens time or wait for the fix. |
The DisplayLink Manager Service is not compatible with Build 1607 (anniversary). So make sure you don't use DisplayLink Provided drivers until they can fix it.
I would try using the removal tool to remove all display link. Then go into device manage and have it find the driver for the display link pieces. When I upgraded to Anniversary windows 10 automatically removed my display link 8 driver and service. I just had Windows update the driver in device manager and then no issues after that. |
Display Link does not work in Windows 10 Anniversary
I've got the same problem on my PC, all was working fine prior to the update.
SPECS: Windows 10 PRO ASUS Maximus V111 motherboard, Intel Core i7-6700K, Nvidia GTX 980 Ti 64GB RAM 3 displays attached: LG 65EF950V OLED (4016x2160) Samsung 46" LCD (1960x1080) Mimo USB monitor (800x600) Display Link driver is removed by windows anniversary update because it is not compatible, when I try to re-install the latest one from the displaylink website the driver install fails I uninstalled it from the Device manager and removed the files (an option when removing drivers in Device Manager) and used device manager to re-install. That failed as well. First Event 430: Device USB\VID_17E9&PID_0335\1073000659 requires further installation. Followed by Event 441: Device USB\VID_17E9&PID_0335\1073000659 could not be migrated. possible solution
As I did, you may have had to install Windows 10 anniversary upgrade OS build 14393.0 via the media creation tool/ISO files rather than thru the windows update prompt as that kept getting stuck...if so it recommends to do so on a 'cleanboot' and when windows 10 installs the pc is still in cleanboot mode so thru the 'run' prompt type msconfig and in the general tab click 'normal start up' and in the services tab tick 'hide all Microsoft services' and then tick next to all services remaining finally ticking the enable all box, apply then ok,....then reboot the machine and see if that solves the issue.
Sorry, forgot to add, after rebooting go to settings on the pc in new windows 10 and display and configure your screens/displays as you want them and click apply. |
I did update using media creation and I don't have displaLylink displaying on task bar and other problems with it.

Windows 10 update and not working
I have the EVGA UV+12 and after the anniversary update it is not working. It has been working quite well under Windows 10 until this update. I followed all the directions on uninstalling the drivers and rebooting. I can see the device in Device Manager and it says it is working, but there is a comment under Events "Device USB\VID_17E9&PID_01AE\01AE-008802 requires further installation."
I downloaded the 8.0 driver and installed it. The option does not show up when I want to select more than one monitor. The light on my monitor is solid and there is a backlight. I have scoured the internet looking for a resolution. To say a chipset is the fault when it is not the chipset on my device does not make sense. Should I purchase an alternative product? |
Problem with Display Link and ASUS VW223B Monitor with Update win10 anniversary updat
Hello.
My System now don't work too with DisplayLink and my Monitor ASUS VW223B :( I Have Latest Driver installed today but my Laptop HP built with HD Intel Graphics, and with Win 10 Update (today)....don't work anymore. With win 8.1 everything Works ok but now i have my laptop working but my Monitor ASUS VW223B don't work i have only one Blue Light on, and my system says everything is ok.... SO it's not true what they say online( DisplayLink).....This latest driver don't work and we need a fast solution. Thank you J.F. |
I hope it doesn't take long!
My docking station is now a oversized USB Hub and I have to run around my desk to swap the DVI-D cables to use my main desktop monitor.
I hope the wait for a fix is short lived! How did this not crop up in the Display Link driver Beta testing? I had not visited this forum until I had the problem otherwise I would have used the beta on my laptop that was running the Win 10 betas. |
Hello everyone,
For those who have a very old product (DL-1x0 chip), including products with PID 0x01AE, these chips were end of lifed 8 years ago but we will have a fix available. You may understand our priority was not to test on end products which were designed so long ago that Windows 10 wasn't even dreamed about... People with PID 0x01AE, please ask for a development build in your technical support ticket (details on how to create a support request in my signature). Everyone, attach a zip of your log files and do explain the behaviour you are having. We won't send a development build if your issue may be elsewhere. The development build is being prepared on Monday. If you don't give all the information, then it will take more time because we will have to ask for it. Older drivers are being removed when you upgrade to the latest Windows 10 build 14393 on purpose. We have changed the driver architecture to take benefit of the brand new DisplayLink USB graphics native support in the new Windows. So we deliberately added a migration blocker in the OS. "DisplayLink Manager" service is also removed because it is not needed anymore as the OS gives us all we need. Sometimes the migration blocker doesn't work properly. If you are having issues, before creating a support ticket, please do the following: 1. Disconnect all devices using DisplayLink technology 2. Remove your corrupted installation using our End User Cleaner. You MUST execute it with "Run as administrator..." even if your user has admin privileges because Windows doesn't ask in about 1% of the installations. 3. Reboot 4. Connect the devices using DisplayLink technology. It will fetch what is needed from Windows Update. The new driver had thousands of working installs before the Windows 10 anniversary update was rolled out generally. Otherwise, Microsoft would not have agreed to have that driver on Windows Update for their brand new Windows feature at general availability/RTM... The main benefit of the new native DisplayLink USB graphics support in the OS are: - lighter driver - no dependency on the primary graphics card driver so now even compatible with the Windows 10 basic driver - seamless upgrade: no need to reboot for an update or even first install. No flashing. Of course, out of the millions of devices plugged in to Windows computers, there is a percentage of Windows OS upgrade not happening properly. Any other specific question, please ask in a new thread for clarity. Kind regards, Alban |
Hi, I am definitely having this problem after upgrading to the Windows 10 Anniversary update. My Plugable UD-3000 worked perfectly with my HP L2245wg display and ethernet adapter. Now, I have constant issues with the ethernet dropping and switching back to wireless, and the display dropping it's connection. The only way to fix it is to unplug the power from the Plugable docking station. I did update all drivers available. bios, graphics, chipset, wireless. I uninstalled the display port software ran the cleaner, unplugged everything and shut down. I then plugged everthing back together and started the computer. It did install the display port using the windows software, but not I am having constant problems. Thanks for looking into this.

DisplayLink 8.0 M1 not working on LGE L206WU Monitor
1 Attachment(s)
Hi guys!
After upgrading Windows 10 to Anniversary Update, my monitor LGE L206WU stopped working and only showed USB SAVE MODE and then is not detected in Screen Personalization under Windows Screen settings. Yesterday, I reverted to previous build of Windows and then it worked again. Today I updated again to Anniversary Update, and stopped working again. The monitor LGE L206WU Monitor device is under Screen devices, next to the graphics card device, instead of the former USB MONITOR device from previous versions of Windows, no yellow marks, no errors, driver updated to the latest version (8.0 M1) but still not working. Any ideas? Maybe this model is no longer compatible with this new version of Windows? Thank you! Roman. |

Release notes say DL-1x0 hardware still supported
Hello Support,
Instead of belittling your long-time customers with condescending nonsense like this... Quote:
I have the same issue as others on Window 10 AU and understand that sometimes there are challenges with older hardware but don't talk down to your loyal users in the forum while at the same time stating in driver releases that their hardware is supported. From the 8.0M1 Release Notes: H. Supported Hardware ===================== Devices supported: - DL-6950 - DL-5500 / DL-5700 / DL-5900 / DL-5910 - DL-41xx - DL-3100 / DL-3500 / DL-3700 / DL-3900 / DL-3950 - DL115 / DL125 / DL165 / DL195 - DL120 / DL160 |
I agree with DSA. I am managing a room full of these DL-1x0 chips (PID 0x01AE) and operated flawlessly until this Windows 10 Anniversary story.
Displaylink, please resolve this ASAP I need this working by the end of the month!!! |
DL165 Failure
Waited for the updated driver release from DisplayLink and the same story, the usb gets found but driver fails to initialise. Have a small team full of these devices; upto 16 purchased from Maplin Electronics most inside the last 6 months as they did work with Windows 10. At approximately £50 each that is £800 which we just don't have the budget to replace this year. Currently have Anniversary Update deferred but some workstations already updated. Between DisplayLink and Microsoft you need to get your acts together.
PS I don't care about the 200 Billion devices you claim to have working with Anniversary Update but I do care about the 16 devices that consistently show the same error. |
Please Fix...
I agree....This is not fixed...I have 4 of these devices and all not working after win10 anniversary update on 2 different machines....When are you going to fix for the rest of us?
|
Hi All
There are multiple issues being discussed in this thread. I understand the frustration that your devices no longer work and we are fixing this. To summarise, there are 2 problems in this thread: There are devices based on the DL-1x0 family, originally made for Windows XP but we are still committing to supporting these devices. I suspect there are not many PC components you bought for XP and can still download the latest Windows 10 drivers for. We needed to get a driver out for Windows 10 Anniversary edition and support for these devices was something that was cut to make the date. However we do have a fix, and these devices will be supported from 8.0 M2, released at the end of August. If you contact us at http://support.displaylink.com we can make a development build available now. The other problem in this thread are devices that switch to mass storage, to auto install drivers. This affects a small number of products that have been available and is a more complex fix, as it is trying to make a device work that was never designed for Windows 10. We want to fix this in a release soon, but don't have a fix or a schedule yet. I'm going to close this thread and make the subject fit the actual root cause before it turns into a dumping ground for many different problems that people are finding with Windows 10 Anniversary update. Thanks Wim |
