Device issue after upgrade to MacOS 10.15.4
2 Attachment(s)
Hi,
Trying to install DisplayLink macOS App beta 0.2 on MacOS 10.15.4 seems to fail in the final step? (see screenshot) I see the DisplayLink Manager under Screen recording and it's ticked. Connecting my dock doesn't trigger any reaction. Before everything worked like a charme. Added my collected logs.... |

Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to us on the forum. I will need additional information to run the proper analysis of the installation process. May you please gather Installer Log for me and attach them in your response? To do so, please follow the below guide: 1.Go to Window option on the App menus with our installer opened. 2.Look there for Installer Log and open it. 3.In the newly opened window, change the filter for Show All Logs and start the installation. This will gather additional logs from the installation process. After the installation stops due to the error message please Save the logs by using icon on the right upper corner. Thank you for attaching these logs and your actions. Kind regards, Jakub |

Attached you'll find my installer log. I removed Displaylink Manager first, did a reboot and installed again.

@JakubDabrowski
Did you find anything in the logs? Best regards, Pascal Dirks |
Hello Pascal,
Thank you for your patience. Our Engineering team is right now running the analysis and yes, they did find some error messages in installation logs. I have some further questions for you to answer in order to establish the main cause of the installation failing: 1. When you start the installation process, do you use a user that has the admin rights? 2. Do you start our installer by double click or from a terminal? 3. Do you have any security options enabled that could prevent the installer from running? 4. Before installation, did you use any of our driver? If you had a classical driver, did you uninstall it first before installing BETA? Thank you in advance for your response, this will for sure help our Engineers in further analysis. Kind regards, Jakub |

Hi Jakub, 1. Yes I'm an administrator 2. I tried both ways 3. No security options in place (that I know of) 4. Before I was running an earlier beta version Best regards, Pascal |
Hi Pascal,
Thank you for your fast reply. May you please test to use Disk utility from the First Aid article here: https://support.apple.com/guide/disk...dskutl1040/mac It would help us to exclude any rights possible issues. Additionally, in near future we are planning to release new beta version of our driver which should address your issue. I will inform you as fast as possible when the driver will be released. Thank you for your actions, Best regards, Jakub |

I ran the First Aid from the Disk Utility. No errors where reported. The DisplayLink app 0.2.42 is running. But doesn't seem to react to anything. When I plugin my Dell dock, no displays (2), no network, no charging. Best regards, Pascal |
Hello,
Thank you for your patience. We have just released a new version of our beta app. May you please download it and test it? Here is the link: https://www.displaylink.com/downloads/file?id=1552 Best regards, Jakub |
Does DisplayLink work with MacOS 10.15.4?
I notice that Apple released MacOS 10.15.4 last night. Has anyone tried to upgrade to this and does DisplayLink still work?
Thanks, Ian. |
Have attempted today on a Dell D6000 and had no end of trouble with either the 5x drivers or the beta version. with 5.x the displays are not detected at all, Beta 0.5.25 ends up in a loop of detection and resolution changing which also never results in the displays being detected. Learn from my mistakes and wait it out.
|
I had to update my Mac for some other reason so I went ahead and updated this too. It all seems to work as before.

Does not work on 10.15.4
I updated to the latest OS and all functionality except for a single display out and power works. Ethernet, all USB's, everything else stopped working. Reinstaleld my OS just to make sure nothing else was causing a conflict.
Need a resolution if anyone has one. |
Hi, today I installed macos 10.15.4 and I have problem with the connection of two external displays on my MacBook Pro 13 2018 (Touchbar) using a dell dock D6000 that uses the displaylink, before the update everything was working fine, I tried the last version 0.5 of the app, also I tried the driver 5.2.1 an none of them work, when I plug the dock my main display starts to blink and the external monitors don’t get any signal.

Thanks for your help Display Link Team. |
Hi all,
Just tried to install BETA 0.5 drivers instead of stable version an it started to work. However there is another issue with this version of the drivers. Each time when I reconnect my laptop to the dock station all display settings (arrangement, resolution etc) are coming to default values. Interesting thing with screen arrangement is that default value is not. the same all the time (sometimes left screen is becoming right, laptop screen is sometime in the middle, sometimes on the right side etc.). Sometimes setting are reseting without reconnection which could be annoying during work. Important to add that this issue was present on both previous beta drivers versions and it is not related to 10.15.4 setup. Im using this product with 2 screens connected: https://i-tec.cz/en/produkt/cadual4kdock-2/ |
Macbook 12 inch - Updated to Catalina 10.15.4 & Dell D6000
Hi, I was using the old Display Link driver 5.1.1 and everything was ok until my mac automatically updated itself to Catalina 10.15.4. Now it's killed both external screens attached and my macbook no longer charges up through the dock. The only thing that does work is the keyboard and mouse.
I have tried installing the 0.5 beta version of the display link drivers and this doesn't work. I have checked in the Mac System Reports section and the drivers are active there, and also checked that screen recording for display link is ticked in the system preferences section. Help please @DisplayLink as this is killing work from home setup in this crisis. |

The latest MAC update (10.15.4) has killed most functionality of my Mac with the DELL D6000. Don't update if you can avoid it.

It would be the best if you could plug in your dock and gather the logs one more time. It will be more efficient for us. Thank you for replacing log files with the newest possible. Kind regards, Jakub |
This beta was release before 10.15.4. I already had it installed prior and it broke. I had to stop using the docking station until a new version of DisplayLink is uploaded.

As I post yesterday I'm having troubles after I updated from version 10.15.3 to 10.15.4, I make a clean install when I updated to the version 10.15.4 and after this update my Dock stop working, I tried to install the displaylink driver 5.2.1 and also the 0.5 which is in beta.
During my tests mostly I don't get any signal in the monitors, one time I get signal in my monitors and everything looks fine but it wasn't charging my computer, then when I restarted the computer didn't work again. My setup is:
Also I send my log using the driver 5.2.1 and a video https://youtu.be/mcpbh54RMXQ, this need to be fix ASAP because It's very difficult to go back to an older version of macOS and I really need to use my dock. Also there is a thread in the apple forum: https://discussions.apple.com/thread...2#252330945022 |
Dear Users,
Thank you very much for your cooperation and log files. I have an information for the users who use Dell D6000 docking stations. We have resolved this issue for one of the users with the Firmware update of the dock. Unfortunately this update can only be done on the windows computer. If you are able, please perform the update by downloading it from here: https://www.dell.com/support/home/uk...k-d6000&lwp=rt After updating your Firmware, please plug it again to your Mac computers and verify. As for other devices, thank you for your patience. We are still investigating this issue. If any new user will encounter the same problem, please provide log files in your message. I will be posting any new updates that we will have as soon as possible. Best regards, Jakub |

I'm having pain trying update the firmware. Seems like it doesn't work over USB-C, and I've got to find a machine to take USB-A/B (an adaptor doesn't seem to work either).
Edit: it won’t work with a VM no matter what. And to be fair, this is a mac forum. I don’t have access so a windows box so what am I supposed to do? |
