HDMI Monitor Not Working After macOS 15.4 Update with Dell UD22 Dock
1 Attachment(s)
Hello everyone,
I've been using DisplayLink with the Dell UD22 dock for the past two years, connected to my MacBook Pro M3 Max. My setup includes three Dell monitors: two P2418D models (connected via DisplayPort) and one P2219H in vertical orientation (connected via HDMI). The dock itself is connected to the MacBook via USB-C. Everything has worked flawlessly until today, when I updated my system to macOS 15.4. After the update, the third monitor (the P2219H connected via HDMI) stopped working. The other two monitors continue to function normally. I’ve already tried several troubleshooting steps, including updating the system further to macOS Sequoia 15.5, but the issue remains. I rely on all three monitors for my work, and this issue is seriously affecting my productivity. Has anyone else experienced this, or does anyone know of a potential fix? Thanks in advance for your help. |

The two DisplayPort video outputs on the back of the dock are driven by DisplayLink technology. The HDMI and USB Type-C video output are driven by the video output capabilities of the host computer. Your description suggests that the two Dell P2418D displays connected to the dock's DisplayPort outputs driven by the DisplayLink technology are working properly. Your description also suggests that the Dell P2219H display connected to the dock's HDMI output (driven by the video output capabilities of your host computer) is not working as expected. If my understanding is correct, then the issue of the non-working display is not related to the DisplayLink component within the dock. As a result, I would suggest: - Ensuring your dock has the latest firmware update applied --> https://www.dell.com/support/product...k-ud22/drivers - Contacting Dell directly for assistance - Contacting Apple directly for assistance (since the issue appears to have occurred as a result of an OS update) |
Thank you, rboerner for all pointers

I will share planned release date of dock firmware once I receive confirmation about their schedule. Thank you for raising this with us and for your patience. |
I look forward to the updates on this problem.
I run two UD22 on my Macbook Pro M4 with macOS 15.4 one in the office and one at home. The HDMI port on both has not worked since the macOS update. |
As an additional data point -
I have a very similar setup to the OP - MBP M3 Max, Dell UD22, 3 x Dell U2723QE Two monitors connected via DP, one via HDMI all ran fine upto and including macOS 15.3 but the HDMI stopped working since upgrading to macOS 15.4 and then 15.4.1 (when connecting third monitor to USB-C instead of HDMI, the monitor blinks on and off with a time period of about 20 seconds) running DisplayLink driver 1.12.1 and UD22 has latest firmware from dell.com it sounds like a fix is on its way so that's great news - in the meantime I'm connecting the third monitor directly to the MBP with USB-C |
I am facing the same issue. My setup is MBP M3 Max with D6000 + 3 monitors. Only 2 of them work at a time.
I'm using DisplayLink Manager 1.12.1 and Sequoia 15.4.1. Do we have a ETA for the fix to be released? Thank you. |
Hello all,
As it is said, our team is investigating this issue. The planned release date of the dock will be shared soon. As for now, to resolve your issue, please follow the latest firmware updates and try to contact Dell or Apple for further assistance. We do appreciate your patience. |
No HDMI on second display after 15.4.1.

Display Link 1.12.2 on macOS 15.4.1 doesn't support HDMI with Dell UD22
Just upgraded to new Display Link 1.12.2 the other day.
HDMI with Dell UD22 still doesn't work. Any ETA for a fix? |
I am using a UD22, and after upgrading from macOS 15.1 to 15.5, HDMI no longer works through the dock—however, connecting HDMI directly to the MacBook still works. Could someone please provide an ETA for a fix as soon as possible?
|
Still no solution
I have tried emailing DisplayLink 5 times and no response? Is there any ETA on a fix for this?
|
Hi there - any updates on this?

Hi there - any updates on this?

Thank you for your patience. I'm chasing for an update. Please note, this problem is not related to DisplayLink driver and it requires an update in Dell Dock UD22 Firmware.

Thread bump.
I have been experiencing this since day 1 with my UD22 paired with my M4 Macbook Pro M4 Pro. I've managed to get by without the HDMI by using the onboard one, but it's cumbersome when using another machine with the dock. I also found some USB-C ports did not work, as well as USB-A. Speaking of which, I recently upgraded another machine to an M4 Macbook Air. Last night I decided to use the Air with the dock for the first time, and to my surprise, everything that didn't work on the Macbook Pro does work on the Macbook Air. Both are running Sequoia 15.5 and latest (June 12 2025) DisplayLink drivers. I spoke to Dell, mentioning the previous staff replies in this thread, but they have passed the buck and claim it's an issue with macOS. Edit: I have now opened a support case with Apple's Level 2 support. They see there is clearly an issue and will be investigating it further. I have a follow up call booked with them on July 1st 12:00 +10 Annoyingly, I did link them to this thread, but security measures mean they are unable to view it. |
Solution that works for me
Hi guys. Just thought I'd share my findings.
I've had the same issue since upgrading to Sequoia 15.5, but every once in a while I happened to activate both screens. For the last couple of weeks I only managed to get one.. Then, a few days ago I disconected the dock and macbook for a couple of hours and also disconnected the dock from the power supply. Then when I reconnected everything I got two screens. Since then it's worked just fine. I have both screens activated whenever I connect again. A colleague of mine experienced the same issue as the rest of us, but when I suggested to disconnect everything (including power) for a few minutes it worked. This suggests to me that it has something to do with the HDMI handshake.. Either way, just a suggestion for you guys. It's worked for me a couple of times now, |
Hello MariusJ,
Thank you for sharing what worked for you. Your input could be really helpful for others facing similar challenges. We truly appreciate it. |
Sequoia 15.6 Public Beta 3 solved the problem for me.
|
Resolution: MacOS 15.6
I can confirm. MacOS 15.6 resolved the issue with UD22 and HDMI on MacBook Pro M4 Pro.
