M1 Mac applications freeze when DisplayLink connected
 

I have a pluggable device that I use to support 2 external monitors. If I open certain applications they freeze when the device is connected. The applications are Zoom and Slack. I think the issue has something to do with them having the ability to access screen content.

Is there a way to avoid these applications from freezing? If I unplug the device and open the apps then replug in the device it usually works but doing this every day can get old.

I am running the latest 1.8 display link drivers and this issue has happened to me on both the new Ventura OS and the previous version of MacOS.

This answer here appears to fix my issue but why doesn't this work when display link is connected?
