Displaylink wont work after Win8.1 Upgrade
Windows 8.1 update failed on some strange driver error and automatically reinstalled old version 8.
On the second attempt Win8.1 installed OK, but left some drivers (like Network, Nvidia GT750M and Displaylink) without functionality. Additionally to this the Fujitsu PR08 seemed to have crashed and only got working after a power cycle. Reinstalling drivers fixed all other issues but Display Link still does not show any Picture on its connected Monitor. I followed the diplaylink guideline for installing the new 8.1 enabled driver and also used the cleanup tool. Still no success. USB ports of the PR08 are working OK and general desktop expansion works on two monitors directly connected to the Notebook. When expanding my desktop to displaylink Monitor connected to displaylink turns on sync LED but claims "no signal". Monitor Name is detected correctly and Mouse seems to use third desktop thoug. - displaylink core software listed in windows software list - Device Manager shows USB Displaylink adapter OK - Win 8.1 service is available and started automatically - driver hardware ID is VID_17E9 - displaylink diagnostics tool: all tests passed Anything else I can do to get working again? Thanks for your help in advance. |
Hi,
Does the issue persist after a reboot? I'll need the logs to investigate further. Please download and run this tool http://www.displaylink.com/support/ticket.php?id=269 and post the results. Thanks, James |
I got this .zip File with plenty of logs out of the tool, but I am not able to attach file to my reply. Please instruct how to upload or specify exact filename to post content.

Hi,
When you select reply in the "Additional Options" section is a option to Manage Attachments. Select this, select Choose File and then upload the zipped up files. Thanks, James |
Thanks for your help, but somehow the PRO08 is working again. What I did:
1. There is just one USB3 Port on the notebook so I never tried the USB 2 ones. Now I did, some automatic hot plug installation of displaylink drivers started, but Monitor still dead - no result 2. since then coming out of sleep mode always cause bluescreen on USB driver stuff 3. several restarts later and back on USB 3 port video suddenly shows up again Maybe helpful for others. Luky me as I would not have liked this NSA spy data of your logfiles posted here... |
By the way, even though it works, Windows still claims a missing usb display adapter driver...
