Dock Firmware Update Tool

Good Morning,

Are there any tools to update the Dock Firmware to the latest version,

We use Startech USB3SDockDD at the moment and to update the firmware we are going through this process

If Drivers installed already
1. Uninstall Driver
2. Reboot
3.Install New Driver
4. Plug in dock when promoted
5. Hope it updates firmware

If drivers aren't installed
1. install driver
2. plug in when prompted
3. hope it updates firmware

we have around 150-200 docks that need updating currently and this is a very long process, do you have a quicker or more efficient tool to update the firmware

Hello,

The dock will be updated when connected, not when the driver is installed from the executable. That's why there is no point in removing and reinstalling the driver and/or rebooting.
There's no "hope" to have. It happens transparently when you plugging the USB cable. It's so transparent on that product that most don't noticed it took place at that stage. There is no notification because the user should not have to care when it's so quick. The notification is in the release notes.

There is no standalone flasher available because there is no point of providing one: the driver will take care of firmware matching which takes seconds on that model, if there is a mismatch.
I'm not sure who advised you to flash the firmware of a DisplayLink product manually by reinstalling the driver, but you would be wasting your time by doing so anyway. Simply update your corporate deployment to use the driver you want throughout the company, and the rest will sort itself out.

Kind regards,
Alban

Is there anything in that process that could be blocking these updates? We use Checkpoint Endpoint security with MEPP and we use McAfee too

Not that we know of. Your endpoint protection software wouldn't have access to that.

McAfee likes to block the creation of new network adapters though...
