OpenGL with Intel Graphics Cards on Windows 10 Anniversary Update onwards

I have a Dell XPS13 9333 laptop running an Intel HD Graphics Family graphics adaptor using driver version 20.19.15.4463. The laptop is also connected to a Dell USB 3.0 DisplayLink adaptor. I recently installed new software - Hoyle Official Card Games Collection and when I launched it I get a message that I need to update my graphics driver "Open GL2.0". I went to the INTEL website and updated the driver. I stii have the issue after installing the updated INTEL driver.

I then undocked the laptop from the DisplayLink adaptor and the software worked fine. I apparently have a problem with the DisplayLink adaptor. I updated the driver to version 8.3.2008.0 but I still have the problem.

The software will not run when the computer is attached to the adaptor. I get the message that I need to update my graphics drivers "Open GL2.0".

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hello,

I'm afraid this is a problem in the Intel graphics driver. We've been trying to get it fixed for about 1 year now...
The graphics driver doesn't work properly with indirect displays introduced in Windows 10 Anniversary Update. It doesn't pass-through the acceleration capability.
The issue is only when launching the application without a monitor directly connected to the graphics card being selected as main/primary display.

Unfortunately, Intel does NOT support the Intel 4th generation platform anymore and I believe this XPS is 4th gen. Therefore I do not believe you will receive a new graphics driver with the fix.

You have two options available:
1. Make the main display a directly connected display (like the XPS LCD panel).
2. Start the application before you dock, if you don't want to be changing the main display back and forth.

This also works with web browsers like Google Chrome.

Kind regards,
Alban

I have renamed the thread so others can find it more easily when looking for OpenGL on Intel GPUs
