SyncMaster S27A850 & USB3 to DP adapter - Win8
I've been using a Samsung SMS27A850 monitor, connected via its displayport to a USB3 port on my laptop for some time now (running win 7).
Adapter used: http://www.lindy.co.uk/usb-3-to-disp...ter/43171.html Although there was some minor lag visible and video playback was choppy it was perfectly usable for office applications. However, I upgraded to Win 8 and the lag has increased quite severely (GPU heavy rendering on Win 8?) to the point that it has become quite annoying to work on this display. As a temporary solution, I figured I could just lower the resolution to standard HD instead of quad but that option is not availabe (I can pick either 2560 x 1440 or 1280 x 1024)... Any suggestions? Is DisplayLink working on drivers to improve Win 8 performance? |
Can you let us have the system information from here:
http://kb.displaylink.com/269 Our automated performance tests tell us that there should be no difference between Win 7 or Win 8, however there do seem to be some users that are finding a performance degradation and we need to try and understand why this is. Wim |

As a temporary solution: is it possible to force the monitor to 1920*1080 resolution?

FYI to the moderator(s):
Updating to v7.1M0 has drastically improved lag on my Displaylink monitor (at 2560*1600 resolution) on win8. There's still an occasional "hang" but that also happened when I was running win7. I had to install it manually though, I didn't receive a new version notification and forcing a check did not find the update. |

7.1 is not on Windows update yet. We leave it a few weeks to make sure there are no major issues before pushing it out to all users. Wim |
