4k scaled to 2k

Hi,
so far i bought around 4 devices, docking stations and hubs in order to fix my problem but as far as i read it seems that it might be tech not possible

I have 2x 4k monitors and a M1 Air laptop.
I have 1st monitor connected to a hub and i can see all resolutions as HI-RES.
2nd monitor is connected to a display link docking station but unfortunately it gives me only 4K and FullHD in HIRES. The rest of the resolutions are in low res.

Is there anyway i can fix this and get display link to show me the 2k in hi-res?

The source of the behavior is a limitation of macOS, in that macOS is not enabling HiDPI mode for the display connected to the docking station. This can happen in a number of different scenarios. even when products not based on DisplayLink technology are in use.

Some posters in this forum have reported success using the application 'BetterDisplay' (formerly known as BetterDummy) to create a 'dummy' mirror display to work around the issue --> https://github.com/waydabber/BetterDisplay

Keep in mind that your results may vary, and that 'BetterDisplay' is a 3rd-party application which is not supported by DisplayLink.
