MacOS 10.13.5, MB169B+ Behaves as if extended, but just mirrors

Hello,

This behaviour is one I have not been able to find elsewhere, and I thought I would report it.

So I am using:
MacBook Pro 13'' early 2015
MacOS 10.13.5 High Sierra
ASUS MB169B+
DisplayLink driver v4.3 beta 5

The behaviour I see is that the external screen mirrors no matter what. If I uncheck mirroring, it says it is extended and I can arrange and scale the monitors etc... but the monitor of my laptop and the external just mirror each other. If I click the DisplayLink AirPlay option, I mirror the external monitor, if I do not, I mirror the laptop monitor.

I am super confused! :D

Thank you!

A

Did you ever get this figured out? I'm having the same issue.

EDIT: I hadn't granted DisplayLink permissions. That seems to fix all my issues (mirrored displays but no options in Displays).

Me Too!

Did anyone figure this out? This is exactly what mine does.

Same behavior after installing "DisplayLink USB Graphics Software for OS X and macOS 4.3 Beta 5.dmg" on High Sierra 10.13.6 (17G65) Mac Pro 15" 2017 -- Radeon Pro 560 4096 MB/ Intel HD Graphics 630 1536 MB.

Also tried "ASUS_MB_series_driver_for_Mac_4.3_Beta_3.dmg" and I don't even anything to display on the monitor with that driver.

You need to update the permissions for displaylink to run, then restart

Ok, so how do we go about "granting permission" to this ridiculously frustrating software? Seems to be a common enough issue that there would be something on it somewhere. Or is this just another case of the user's time being insignificant, something to be wasted over inefficient information?
