Mac Mini (2018) and Dell D3100 Dock Help Required

Hi,

Im having an issue with a Mac mini(2018) I have recently aquired, and my existing Dell D3100 dock running Display Link Manager 1.4.0

Mac is running Big Sur 11.3.1

When the Mac is connected to the dock using the USB 3.0, the screens will not turn on, on first boot. My guess is that the manager / driver is not initiated at the log in screen.

If I remove the HDMI from the dock, and connect to the Mac, im presented with the login screen on my monitor. I can then remove the HDMI from the Mac, pop it into the dock and it works as expected.

Reboot, same thing happens. Screens are not initiated at login prompt.

I think everythings up to date, and I have granted the DisplayManager the necesarry system perms.

Is there anything obvious im missing here to get the screen to initiate at login? If it can't, then my set up is pretty much useless! :D

Cheers,

Based on your description, I believe there are three things to double-check:

1. Ensure that the DisplayLink Manager Application is configured to startup automatically, as described here --> https://support.displaylink.com/know...ion-in#install

2. Ensure that 'Login screen extension' is installed, as described here --> https://support.displaylink.com/know...ction-in#other

3. If FileVault encryption is turned on for the startup disk in your Mac, turn it off. If FileVault is enabled, it can prevent the Login screen extension from starting. More information on FileVault is here --> https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204837
