Displaylink Software not installing at all Win 8.1
 

Hello,

I'm using a Surface Pro 3 with the latest firmware package from MS and a Targus 3.0 DV docking station. I've tried multiple versions of the Displaylink software (7.9 M4, 7.9 M3, and 7.7 M3) and none of the installers will get anywhere. A box pops up saying it's trying to run after the admin confirmation, then disappears. I've tried directing my unknown devices in device manager to the drivers extracted out of the installer and that seems to get me somewhere as they do install but I don't have any actual Displaylink options and can't set up any external devices. At some point some .dat files were being dropped in the Program Files\Displaylink Core Software folder but I've deleted those and I haven't seen more. I've also run the uninstaller tool and that doesn't seem to change the behavior. I'm really not sure what the problem might be. Any help is appreciated.
