Surface Pro using USB-C Dongle - Monitor not showing

Hello there
We have a number of Surface Pro devices (mostly 5th Gen) that utilise the Surface USB-C Dongle via the Dell D6000 dock for connecting to an external monitor and to charge the device.

Displaylink 8.6.1294 is installed. Sometimes the device will be coming out of sleep, other times it has just moved from one desk to another....

When the Surface USB-C dongle is connected, the USB Hub of the dock initialises and allows Keyboard and Mouse to work, however the "Display Adaptor" within Device Manager does not initialise the Displaylink drive.

If we remove the USB-C dongle and connect via USB-A, all is well and initialises. Then reconnect the USB-C dongle to the cable, and the display will initialise correctly?

Sometimes restarting the device will address this, but that is not a fix or understanding the cause. I do have the Support Logs but do not with to upload on a public forum. Many thanks

Hello Leebow,

That's peculiar, our chip doesn't care about USB-C or USB-A or even sees that.
Logs here are only downloadable by DisplayLink staff.
However, I recommend you contact Technical_Enquiries@DisplayLink.com and this will create a private ticket. You can attach your logs to the ticket. Please also specify details about the USB-C adapter you are using (a photo might be helpful to make sure there's no confusion). I doubt this is a driver issue (as driver doesn't know about USB connector type), and we might have to source the adapter to analyse USB traffic.

The DisplayLink chip used in the Dell D6000 is part of the USB Gold Tree. The Gold Tree configurations are references used to test USB compliant devices for interoperability.

Kind regards,
Alban
