Windows 10 Night Light/Blue Light Filter

Hi everyone,

I can't get the night light/blue light filter that is now available in Windows 10 to work on my DisplayLink monitors. My laptop and any external monitors connected directly to laptop by HDMI will do it just fine, but not through USB DisplayLink. Is this not supported yet?

Hello,

You are correct, handling gamma ramps is a new feature.
In the meantime, you can install the latest F.lux 4 application which should work and serves the same purpose.

Kind regards,

Is this something that is coming as supported in the displaylink drivers ?

or do i always have to use flux to have the w10 feature working on usb display devices ?

Hello,

At the moment, the development has stopped and needs to be reviewed. Some older devices would not be able to do it through a driver change though as this require code change in the DisplayLink chip(set) as well as on the computer.

F.lux has been existing well before the feature was added to Windows 10. F.lux is to be used instead of the Windows 10 setting for now, not with both enabled.

As there is a solution working properly from the f.lux team, developing it in our driver is not a high priority anymore.

Kind regards,
Alban

DisplayLink doesn't seem to support F.lux on Linux (Ubuntu), at least. I hope both native night mode on Windows and at least F.lux on Linux can be supported soon!

PS: As an 8.3 alpha tester, I think the night mode worked well on Windows, although I have reported audio problems. If you need further code reviewing or testing, please find me. I wish I can do more to accelerate the code development process.

Thanks.
