macOS Big Sur 11.3.1 High CPU Usage DisplayLink Manager 1.3.0
I noticed that DisplayLinkUser Agent consumes often >50% of my CPU especially when executing multimedia. (via Chrome or QuickTime etc). Minimum % CPU on average is around 20%
My Configuration: - MacBook Air 13inch 2019, 1.6 GHz Dual Core Intel Core i5, 16GB RAM, Intel UHD Graphics 617 1536 MB - Displays: DELL P2419H, DELL P2319H - Docking: ICY BOX IB-DK2251AC I had great experience with 5.2.5 Driver for macOS Catalina but with Big Sur it's not working as it should. I tried to use 5.2.5 on Big Sur and got similar experience. Is there any solution for this? DisplayLinkUser Agent makes my MacBook Air unusable! Thanks in advance for your support. |
Same here!! I am editing Video, and I cannot do this at all with displayLink connected. Its VERY laggy and slow. I will have to send it back.

MBA M1 11.3.1, DisplayLink 1.3
I really don't know it is okay or not but No actions on DisplayLink monitor: DisplayLink Manager 0.1% - 0.9% CPU, WindowsSever 2%-3%. Dragging Chrome view: DisplayLink Manager 66% CPU, WindowsSever 42% CPU Also has a lot of lags during dragging big (more than a half of screen) view. |
Same here. If there is some activity on DisplayLink Monitor, WindowServer >50%, DLM 40%. Crazy! Admins, please provide some guidance or justification!

So sloooow
Also same here. WindowServer >50%. Tried several restarts.
I cant work with the slowness. I cant believe it. Installed: DisplayLink Manager 1.3.0 (Build 56.111) |
I will hope for the next update or just send it back. Luckily I ordered via amazon. Its absolutely unusable now. Its version 1.3.0 on Catalina 10.15.7. Even in HD mode, it slows down my mac massively. I just have to wiggle around with a finder window and cpu goes up. The more is moving on the external screen, the more power it eats up.

Very upsetting that DisplayLink doesn't comment on this in any way...
I suspect you are experiencing the same issue I have been experiencing ever since migrating to BigSur / new driver. https://www.displaylink.org/forum/sh...3613#post93613 |
how is the situation with m1 macbook pro. from the 3 thunderbolt ports, if i connect each monitor to one usb port, directly or using an usb hub, i wouldn't have to use direct link at all, correct? and hence no such drastic performance decrease, correct?
