RDP Tools not working anymore since Windows 10 Upgrade to 1903 and connected to D6000

Good evening,

today I upgraded my windows 10 to 1903. Since then it is no longer possible to use third party RDP Tools like mRemoteNG or ASG Remote Desktop. Upon connecting I receive the black screen and by the time the Remote Desktop would load the application crashes.

While disconnecting the USB Docking Station - I am able to Use those programs just fine.

I also updated to the latest display link Version 9.1 M2 but the problem remains. Any suggestions? Thank you!

Hello,

There has been changes in the RDP implementation with Windows 10 v1903 compared to previous versions of the OS.
What about the inbox client? Does it work successfully?

I'll have to create a bug report for this to be investigated. Direct links to the tools which breaks would be useful. Would you have them on hand?

Kind regards,
Alban

Inbox client? The Windows MSTSC.exe has no problems.

Good to know, thanks.
Have you opened a support case with them yet?
If the Windows native utility works and not these, this *might* be because of the changes in the RDP layers. I've opened something internally, but I doubt this will be a change for DisplayLink to make.
Kind regards,
Alban

They will investigate as well. Interesting thing is, that those Tools do work when the USB Docking Station is not connected.

Hello,

Would you have a ticket number so I can reach out to them and they have context?

The information that the underlying RDP implementation has changed to the same as DisplayLink interface, it used to work before that change was done, you only changed the OS, and that the Microsoft tool works makes me doubt it's a change we did...

Kind regards,
Alban

I found a thread on their Github:
https://github.com/mRemoteNG/mRemoteNG/issues/1343

Sorry, I don't have a ticket. I mainly use ASG Remote Desktop and they don't believe its an issue of their software.

I found out that when I connect one monitor via HDMI directly to my notebook third party RDP Tools do work only on that monitor.

Hello,

Can you try and user setup your utility to use "Power saving" graphics adapter to workaround the problem? The app has to be added to in the "Graphics settings" panel and the app has to be restarted.
We managed to reproduce the issue, and it looks resolved in a more recent Windows build.

Regards,
Alban
