Issue with flashing screens
 

Hi all,

My boss has a setup at work like this

HP Elitebook 2540p running, on the official HP dock.
Powered USB Hub connected to the dock.
The powered USB hub has 5 display link adapters which power an array of monitors on his desk. (he has 7 in total including his laptop sceen!)

This system works perfectly fine, he docks the laptop and the screens all power on and retain their positions each time, he undocks and they all power off.

Recently however there have been issues where all the screens will flash/flicker and go blank. They will reappear after 30 seconds - 1 minute. This is highly disruptive to his work and causes him to shout at me, not the best situation.

No hardware changes have been recently made, what could be the issue? is it perhaps the USB Hub?

It could be a power issue from the USB Hub. Can you try attaching the adapters to other USB Hubs, that are externally powered, or plug directly into the laptop to see if this solves the issue?
