Issues with laggy display with 24/25 Hz
1 Attachment(s)
Hi,
I have a HTPC setup with a 7" Touch (FingerVU 700) and a TV, connected via HDMI to a Radeon 6450 card. When I set the TV to a refresh rate of 24 or 25 Hz, the video display on both screens becomes laggy. The mouse movements are slightly delayed, and movie playback becomes unwatchable. For 25p content, it is a perfect solution to have the TV running at 50 Hz. However, for 24p content, 60 Hz is not so great. When I deactivate the Touchscreen, everything is fine. Also, it seems to work better if Aero (running on Win7) is turned off, but that I can't tell for sure. However, that is not an option for me since the Multimedia features of Win7 require Aero for its full potential. Log data is attached. Can you please have a look? |
Any updates on this? The issue still exists with the 7.1M0 drivers. :(

Still nothing?

Why is nobody interested in fixing this???

Good question

Sorry - this got lost in the other threads. The performance will have more lag with a lower refresh rate, as the screen will be updated less often. There has to be some lag, as we have to encode the pixels, send them over USB and then decode them. If you lower the refresh rate, you lower the speed the updates will be sent.
You're best off using 60Hz to keep the updates as quickly as possible and minimise the lag. Wim |
Thanks for your response.
I'm talking about the refresh rate of the secondary display (the one that is connected to the graphics card), not the refresh rate of the USB display. That stays at 60Hz. How is that refresh rate related to the DisplayLink device? |
