Closing laptop lid turns off displays, Windows 8.1

I'm running Windows 8.1 on a Dell XPS 15 laptop through the Dell USB 3.0 Docking Station and cannot get the external monitors to remain on when I close the laptop. I am using the Display Link 7.5 M0 software, the most up to date software. The laptop is configured to "do nothing" when the lid closes for both the battery and plugged in settings. The docking station works perfectly fine on my Windows 7 machine. Any suggestions?

Hi,

Before you close the lid try selecting "Notebook Monitor Off" from the taskbar UI.

Thanks for the reply, James. I tried turning the notebook display off in the screen resolution settings...while it turned off the monitors also turned off when I closed the lid. Any other suggestions?
