disconnecting / reconnecting - windows has stopped this device...

Hello,

Lenovo Helix (Win 8.0) + USB 3.0 Dock (v. 7.5 M0)

The dock may work fine for weeks at a time or just a single day, then randomly it will start disconnecting and reconnecting every 5 seconds. The only fix is to unplug the dock, go into the device manager (where it's showing up as "Unknown device") and uninstall the dock, reboot, and plug it back in.

Device Manager says:
Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

Any ideas?

Try connecting the device through a USB 2 hub. I think there are still some issues with the software and USB 3 ports. I had similar issues, and have temporarily resolved them by using a hub.

I have 2 identicle ThinkPad USB 3.0 Hubs with disconnect on one

The following seems to have solved many of my issues. I have 2 of these hubs both using DisplayLink with dual monitors. The newer one (same model) has never acted up. The older one progressively seemed to get worse. So I did the following and it seems to have addressed the issue:

1. Use High Performance Profile when connected to the hub
2. Modified the high performance profile so that USB ports do not power off to save energy even if on battery
3. NEVER NEVER NEVER use the second USB port on the Helix while the hub is connected, if you are lucky it will display a power overload message on the USB
4. use latest driver (7.5)
5. keep the vent open if the Helix is folded flat as heat seems to have affect on power draw that in turn affects the USB.
6. Use the device manager and insure that any USB device with a power management tab has the "Allow the computer to turn off this device off" un-checked.

Note that you can do this with the power unplugged on the Helix IF the power plan is high performance and modified as I suggest above. The reason for this is to cycle the battery and lengthen the life of it. Just note that if you are not paying attention it will cutoff very unceremoniously.

Having the same troubles as the original poster. Will try the steps above.
