Solved: AOC External USB Monitor Disconnecting/Reconnecting
 

I have an AOC e1649FWU external USB monitor connected to a Dell Precision M4800 that has been unusable due to it constantly disconnecting and reconnecting. It now, touch wood, appears to be working.

Unfortunately I can't really tell exactly what solved my problem (though I do know it wasn't #1 on it's own as while that made it a bit better it didn't solve the problem) as I did #2 and #3 before trying the monitor again.

So here are, in order, the changes I made:

1. Disabled Selective Suspend for USB devices in Power Management.
2. Installed Update 1 for Windows 8.1.
3. Installed the Feb 27 release of 7.5 M1 DisplayLink software.

I've had the monitor plugged in and in use for a couple of hours now, and not a single disconnect/reconnect.
