Dpc_watchdog vilolation bsod
Hey all,
Im supporting a rollout of approx 120 displaylink based devices, and all has worked rather well so far - with most users happily using them ,adn only occasional resets of the device/users laptops needed. We have had 2 users report however a BSOD happening with their particular docking station. The BSOD is DPC_WATCHDOG VILOLATION. Both users report this to happen shortly after plugging in the dock (but not every time). We have had 5 docks proved to be faulty from our rollout so far (USB device’s Device Descriptor request failed.), im looking at these 2 docks being similarly faulty. Systems: Late 2013 Macbook Air, Running Windows 8.1, latest 7.5u1 Drivers. One of the users has had their laptop replaced due to the issue, and it hasnt resolved it - so thats why im looking at the docks now. Thanks |
Hi,
Sorry for the delay in responding. Are you running Windows in a VM on the Mac? Or are you using Bootcamp? Thanks, James |
Morning James,
These machines are running Windows natively. The Macbooks were formatted, Windows installed natively, and then bootcamp drivers installed upon first boot. So far the BSOD has been limited to now 3 machines - and only when a dock is attached, however not every time its attached. In addition - some other little issues: Now 3 users with BSOD Occasional power cycles of the dock and or the users laptops are needed (so not quite plug and play all the time, but on most occasions) - Usually graphics & LAN not coming up - acts as just a USB Hub (out of this sub-forums scope) Some OSX users have reported no video (laptop/dock) after sleeping the laptop and must be booted with the dock unplugged else they also do not get any graphics. |
I got an image of one of the machines BSOD'ing today as below.

Hi,
Thanks for the info - I'll get back to you shortly regarding next steps. Thanks, James |
Hi,
Can you attach the output of this tool as soon as you hit the issue again? http://www.displaylink.com/support/ticket.php?id=269 Thanks, James |
Hey James,
Ill go ahead and install that tool, hopefully its persistent and will continue to work after a reboot? We have had another person now having the issue as well. So up to 4 people now. |
