Issue with Surface Pro 3, Miracast on a PTV3000 and a DisplayLink (DS-3900) dock
 

Seems to be some sort of issue in Windows 8.1 Pro for the SP3, a Netgear PTV3000 and a Diamond Ultra DisplayLink Docking station (DS-3900 chip) running 7.6.56443.0 that resulted in having to restore my Surface Pro 3 twice.

Issue is either:

1) the Surface Pro 3 cannot see the MiraCast device if it was a launch day device with the various patches applied as they were released
2) once a restore to present day fixes/updates is done on today's date, if a firmware update is done on the MiraCast device and re-pairing is necessary, the DisplayLink device stops functioning. To get everything working again, a restore is necessary.

Don't know what resources both technologies share (if any), but this issue is easy to replicate.
