USB docking station disconnects after 2 to 4 minutes
1 Attachment(s)
Using a Dell Inspiron 17R running Windows 7 64bit with a Dell MKS14 USB docking station.
When I plug the USB cable in, the monitor displays great (as an either an extension or mirror of my laptop display), my gigabit Ethernet is available, and the DisplayLink icon shows in my system tray. After about 2 to 4 minutes, the DisplayLink seems to disconnect and all that goes away. After that, unplugging and plugging in the USB cable or powering the docking station on and off has no effect. The display does not work until I restart my computer again. I have updated the following: Renasas USB 3.0 controller NVIDIA GeForce display driver Intel HD Graphics driver DisplayLink drivers I also change to power management settings as described on the site for issues with the display periodically disconnecting and reconnecting, although during this 2 to 4 minute period I at least keep the mouse moving around so they system should not be going to sleep. I have attached the diagnostic logs from the DisplayLink diagnostic tool. Any ideas? Lee |
Hi,
Can you try the latest 7.7 M3 from here? http://displaylink.com/support/downloads.php Thanks, James |
Thank you James.
I installed the 7.7 M3 version. Still the same behavior. When I plugged in the USB port after the update, I got an Installing Drivers box.
When I looked at Device Manager immediately, those two failed drivers were displayed, but with a status of unable to start. When I restarted my computer (with USB unplugged) then plugged in the USB, I saw the same behavior as before (worked for about 2 minutes, then shut down). Device Manager now shows these drivers as installed and running

Hi,
Do the disconnects happen on other USB ports on your notebook? Thanks, James |
