Windows 8.1 no video or network, fixed!
 

Hi Guys,

All of a sudden my Asus HZ1 dock stopped displaying video to my two screens and the network would not work; however my USB hubs were fine.

I tried all of the typical troubleshooting steps and nothing worked.

I even plugged it into another Win 8.1 machine and same thing.

So then I went through my list of recent Windows updates and there were no recent updates that I could see that could have caused the issue.

So then I manually checked Windows Updates in my PC to see what was available, and came across this update https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3013769

In reading what was included I saw something very interesting:
KB 2990372 Device does not exist error after you reinsert a USB COM port device

So with nothing to lose I ran the update, nothing happened. So I uninstalled the Asus supplied driver, rebooted and installed the latest driver from Displaylink for Windows 8.1 64bit.

This time the device was recognised and away it went!

I am just posting this as it may hopefully help some of you, as I can see from the posts that this is quite an issue at the moment.
