No Monitors after W10 Update

Hello

The USB hub and ethernet on the docking station is working but no monitors after an update to windows 10. I ran the cleaner and installed the latest driver. No luck

Any ideas ? The adapters appear under display adapters.

Attached are the diags

Thanks

Kevin

Hello Kevin,

Thank you for providing the logs, this is helpful.
Has the issue started when you received the Insider's build 17074?

1. When the dock is connected, could you please check if you've got WUDFHost running in Task Manager? If you don't understand what this means, let me know and I can explain.
The reason I ask is because the logs collected have crash dumps of that host process we run under and they seem caused by Windows HID Telephony Driver (hidtelephony!CHidTelephonyManager::OnFileClose+0x 173 is the start of the trip)

2. Could you please regather logs using our latest tool (http://www.displaylink.com/downloads/file?d=65)? The version you used doesn't support our driver 8.4 as we've had to move some files due to OS requirement changes from Microsoft so I am missing the DisplayLinkManager logs. I could also be missing them because WUDFHost is dead and therefore our graphics driver doesn't start at all.

I haven't managed to successfully install build 17074 on my Surface Pro 3 yet but I keep trying. You might have uncovered a regression.

Kind regards,
Alban

I do not see WUDFHost running. Attached are the updated diags. This issue did start happening after updating the insiders build

Thanks

Thank you Kevin,

I have created an internal report under ref 27084.
This sounds like an OS regression but we need to get a reproduction internally to confirm first. The logs will help get a machine in a similar status as yours.
I will comment on this thread if we need something new or when I have news to share.

Kind regards,
Alban

So displaylink is not supported with this build ?

AlbanRampon 01-22-2018 02:38 PM

This is not what I wrote.
I wrote there is likely to be an issue with the OS. This has to be investigated before a reason can be given.

We have begun seeing this with different customers as well, both with USB docks and bottom docks on Lenovo laptops.

Can you give me an update on progress?

Hello,

We have one set of logs.
We have no reproduction with that machine today. Trying with different combinations of upgrade paths and layout. Whatever we're doing, displays are present and working.

We need more data (logs from different machines) to compare what happened on different cases to get a theme, otherwise don't see us making timely progress.

Regards,
Alban

Similar problem, maybe?

I had a Surface Pro 3 running windows 8.1 and was successfully using DisplayLink via a Sabrent Universal docking station.

Unfortunately that Surface developed an issue with WIFI and I had it replaced. The replacement is a Surface Pro 3 as well, but it is running windows 10. I downloaded the most recent DisplayLink software and installed it, however, when I plug in the dock my connected monitor is not recognized at all.

I found this thread, it sounds like it might be a similar issue to mine, so I obtained the logging utility and have provided my logs.

Hello Todd,
Thank you for registering and posting your logs.
I can see on line 6193 of setupapi.dev.log that the device was connected once at the time following:
>>> [Device Install (Hardware initiated) - USB\VID_17E9&PID_4307&MI_02\7&86024b1&0&0002]
>>> Section start 2018/01/26 14:54:20.813

When you clicked on gather logs, was the device powered and connected?
It's not visible in Device Manager and there's no DisplayLinkManager.log in the ZIP, which suggests the driver has never been started (or there was an error at collection).

Kind regards,
Alban
