Main Display - Fix Coming?

Hi all,

I know this is a known issue - when I use a DisplayLink dock and have several monitors connected, the GPU now runs the graphics on all monitors, which is a HUGE improvement. So thanks for making this happen.

The only remaining issue I have is that I can't switch the "main display" to be one of the external monitors.

This is not a huge issue - but it is slightly inconvenient to have to look over to the laptop, or even to have to keep the laptop open...

Is a fix in the future?

Best regards,

T.

Hello,
I am afraid I don't understand the question.
Maind display as external is compulsory if you close the lid as there's no other display available.
Can you explain?
Kind regards,
Alban

Hi Alban,

Thanks for the quick reply.

For the longest time I have had to keep the lid open on my laptop - effectively having 3 screens, although I only ever use the two external monitors when I am docked. DisplayLink gave me issues when I had the lid closed.

In this configuration, with the lid open (and therefore the laptop screen on), if I switch the "main display" status to one of my external monitors, my 3D software crashes. If I keep the "main display" status on my laptop, then it all works just fine.

I will certainly try to see if I can now close the lid and have things works properly. That would indeed solve my "main display" on the external monitor issue!

Kind regards,

Tom

Ok, Tom.
This makes me believe you are using Windows 10 v1903.
If that's indeed the case, please go and "Check for updates" to install the latest OS fixes from ~30th August.
Kind regards,
Alban
