Does DisplayPort support only 6 Channel Audio (5.1)?
 

Good Morning,

i have a Dell Dock D6000 connected with USB 3.0 with my Notebook Dell E5550.
On the Dock is a HDMI-Cable to my AVR Pioneer VSX-LX303. With this connection i get only 6 Channel Audio bitstream to my AVR. Latest DisplayPort Drivers are installed.

What is the Problem, does DisplayPort only support 6 Channel Audio, i can't believe?
Or is this a limitation because of the connection with USB 3.0?

6 channels are implemented.
This isn't a DisplayPort or USB 3.0 limitation. I believe DisplayPort can allow 8 or more, depending on which version of DisplayPort is used.

The product is used mostly at desks where people tend to have at most stereo, so 5.1 was developed. If we were to get requests for more, we would consider implementing in future products, but as this isn't a regular ask, it is not currently prioritised.
